How do I check and replace the water level sensor on my Kenmore 80 Series Hvy Dty Washer?

How do I check and replace the "water level sensor" on my Kenmore 80 Series Hvy Dty Washer? Water will not shut off on while filling the drum on any water level selection. Also washer will not operate on any wash cycle chosen as the water continues to fill. I can manually put washer on end of rinse cycle to drain washer and/or the spin cycles to drain washer. The drain from washer seems to be working. I need more help troubleshooting why washer will not stop filling to capacity and overflowing and continue filling. Any details you can help me with will be greatly appreciated.

Try eserviceinfo.com/index as per your 80 series. There are various downloads there that may help access the water level sensor which is most likely the problem.

I'm sorry it didn't work out but there is a host of DIY fixes on Youtube if you search 80 series level sensor. I'm not familiar with your model but you may recognise it and find what you need.

  • Thanks Tim. I will try a search on Youtube as you suggested. Thanks again for your help.

Is there a way i can get my kenmore hvy dty 60 series to fill with more water??

If you are attempting to fill it beyond what it is capable of holding, NO. If it is not filling enough then there is a small tube next to the tub that measures the water and that tube can become plugged with softener.

Where do I troubleshot? Kenmore 80 Series Hvy Dty Washer. Water will not shut off filling drum on any water level. Also no selection of wash cycle will work. Only rinse and spin. It continues to fi

Ok, there is a tube running from the fill switch to the tub, as water fills the tub the air in this tube will activate the switch. If there is a hole in this tube the switch will not stop the water. I fill the tub about 1/4 full, take the tube off the switch and blow through the tube, If you hear air escaping patch the hole or replace the tube.

Water not cutting off at full level and leaking-Kenmore washer 80

The water lever sensor/switch is not working and needs to be replaced. IT has a air tube that senses the water lever by pressure. It the tube is clear then the switch needs replaciing,, If they is a clog, clear it and retry before replacing it.

Kenmore 80 series model# 110.28803890

Hello. Yes there is a fill level pressure switch. It is pressure activated by the pressure of water rising in a tube as the water rises in the tub. It's easy to find and easy to replace. Look for the tube and follow it to the switch. Parts for Kenmore are available at 1-800-516-9625 or at http:\www.sears.com.
Good luck.

Kenmore 80 washing machine -water sensor not working

Yes,
Kenmore is uniformly easy to work on, everything comes off from the front.
There are two 80 models,
on the most common, newer model, the edge trims on the console pop off, there is a phillips screw in each corner, remove the screw, slide the console forward, lift up and flip over.
on the older one the console is released by sliding a putty knife or other blunt blade under the corners of the console to uncatch a clip, lift up flip over
  • ensure air tube is attached (water level sensor operates off air tube from bottom of drum to control body, (bottom is not loose or there is water all over the floor))
  • Blow any water out of the air tube, it should be empty when the washer is empty, water remaining in the tube messes up the pressure sensing (usually makes water level lower)
  • ensure wires are connected to control body.
Kenmore pressure switches are adjustable, the adjustment is hidden.
An internal spring stretches over time and does not react properly.
to test
  1. remove the water level knob from the front side of console
  2. depress the lock tab at the right side of water level sensor body where it contacts the back side of the console and rotate counter clockwise 45degrees
  3. withdraw water level sensor body
  4. adjacent to shaft for the knob is 1/8inch bolt head, turn clockwise to raise, counter clockwise to lower water level.
  5. washer can be operated with the console open and the level body removed - dont shock yourself on the cable connectors
  6. test, adjust, test adjust. (water level switch may need to be flicked hi-med & back to test adjustment
  7. if no effect replace water level sensor body
The water level switch body contains a small spring that is not really up to the job and stretches over years,
do this repair, on call, no parts, takes 15 minutes,, 3-4 times a month
