If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.
There are a few reasons that this might be happening. They range from air in the gas line to inadequate gas flow. Start by checking the installation

SOURCE: I just installed a new Hayward H400FDN and it will not stay lit.

I had the same issue...you don't have enough gas pressure.

SOURCE: Error code LO

Is the heater installed indoors?? if so you'll need a vent pressure orifice kit.
if not check your water press. (below 18 PSI on filter) Place filter on "recir" if it fires and stays on . it's the pressure.
check to see if all connections a set tight hi-ltd switch wire harness etc.

SOURCE: Hayward H250K gas pool heater error code

Low Flow errors are not necessarily real. They can be caused by improper adjustment or a defect of the pressure switch. Locate the pressure switch. Verify that the "switch" makes contact. Adjust the dial, reducing the distance the switch has to travel to engage. This will effectively lower the operating pressure required to operate. Keep adjusting until the unit stays on.

I have a Hayward H400 that shuts off at 88 degrees. What could this be?

Is this heater standalone, or is it hooked up to an external controller? If it is standalone, it sounds like you need a water temp sensor for the heater. If its hooked up to an external controller, you likely need a 10k temp sensor. What error code does the heater display when it shuts down? And what temperature are you able to read on the heater and/or external controller?

H250fd. I have the service light lit when I turn the system into standby and shut off my pool pump. Is this normal?

This is not normal. You have some sort of electrical short. Possible bad fuses, wiring, or board if its not showing a code on the display

My hayward pool heater gives me a code sb what part is this

Possibly failed keypad, or stuck key on keypad.
This product should be under full warranty, and installer should be called.
Hayward 350 product manual: Error codes start page 38 do not show Sb
http://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/Manual285.pdf
However Sb error code shows on following manual as 'Keypad failure' or 'stuck key'... one of the keys is stuck longer than 30 seconds, but control will still function, replace keypad.

Our pump bearings noisy, had small engine shop repair hook back up , now ce reports on heater ????

Pump bearings, hook up, CE error...not following your sequence of events here. CE error on a Hayward heater means a problem with the control board communicating with the display board. Generally it means you need a new display/bezel assembly. None of this should have anything to do with a motor repair unless at some point during all this someone grounded out line power and sent a surge thru the system in the process.

HOW DO YOU CORRECT ''LO'' ERROR (LIMIT STRING PROBLEM) ON A HAYWARD HEATER H250FD??

You need to find out what is bad in the string. The first thing to check is the pressure switch. Not so much the switch but clean the filter and baskets and check the impeller for a clog. These will let the pre sw shut the heater down. The second thing to check is the roll out switch. This is in the bottom of the cabinet on the fire wall just above the burners. It looks like a black sleeve on the wire that crosses the cabinet. It's a wax switch that melts and shuts the heater down if the fire rolls out the front of the heater. If this has gone bad you will need to find the reason it did and fix that or it will just do it again.
The other things on the string you just need to jump past and check, then replace the bad component. Good luck.
