I assume you are talking abou tthe screen on the faucet where the water comes out. that cap (usually) simply unscrews. it can get stuck over time when that happens i put a wash cloth around it then use pliers to loosen it once the cap is off the screen is usually inside the cap. along with a plastic aireator.. hope that helps

SOURCE: I have an american standard bathroom faucet.

First, turn off the water supply under the sink. Next, put the faucet lever in the up position, no water should be coming out. While in the up position turn slowly while looking at the underside of the handle and you should be able to find a set screw. It will probable be an "allen head" type and you will need and allen head wrench to loosen it. An allen head looks like a hex shape, 6 sided I believe and is rod shaped. If you don't have one they come in sets at your local hardeware.

SOURCE: I have an American Standard bathroom faucet. The

Assuming the drain plug is the pop-up type where you pull a small rod up behind the faucet, you can try the following:
In the cabinet below the sink you will see the rod come down that operates the sink drain plug. There is a horizontal rod connected to this that goes into the drain line with a small round cap. Unscrew this cap and pull the rod out. The drain plug should come up freely from the drain. After cleaning reinsert the drain plug and be sure the horizontal rod goes into the drain and through the hole at the bottom of the drain plug shaft. Seat the round ball from the horizontal shaft into the drain line and tighten the round cap to hold the horizontal rod in the drain.

I think you might need a handle remover tool. It looks like two "L"'s facing each other with a long screw going through the top of the two L's . With a T handle at the top. The two L's go up under the bottom of the faucet handle, and the long screw fits into the screw hole for the faucet handle. A dozen turns or so and the handle pops off the valve stem. Cost about 10-15 dollars at any hardware store. hope this helps.

I have an American Standard single handle faucet in the bathroom.. When you open the faucet fully the flow rate is very small. The faucet was fine before. How do I adjust the faucet to so that the flow...

What is likely happening is a small piece of sediment has become lodged in either the mixing valve or in the aerator.

Begin with the easiest part first. The aerator is the threaded attachment from which the water comes out of the faucet. Remove the aerator from the faucet and run the tap without it installed. If the flow rate is good either clean or replace the aerator.

If this was not the problem then the solution becomes much trickier because the obstruction is likely in one of the lines coming into the faucet or in the body of the faucet called the mixing valve. This is where the hot and cold water mix inside the faucet.

Our next step is to create negative pressure inside the faucet in an attempt to remove the buildup restricting the flow.

If you don't have shut off valves under the sink you will need to shut off the water supply to the home, remove the faucet from the vanity/sink and perform the following procedure.

Shut the hot and cold water off underneath the sink and remove the supply lines at the shut off valves but leave them connected to the faucet. You will need to purchase two adapters for the aerator that will allow you to connect a garden hose from your closest water supply (kitchen sink) to the vanity faucet. You can find these at your local hardware store. You will also need a pail under the vanity to catch the water coming out of the vanity faucet supply lines. Connect the garden hose from an active water supply to the vanity faucet. With someones help have them turn the water supply on which will then run backwards through the vanity faucet and into the pail underneath the vanity. Be sure to open the vanity faucet taps to full so that water will run through the faucet. This should dislodge the obstruction.

Set screw has been removed from American Standard single lever faucet. How do you remove the faucet

Faucets are fastened with nut(s) under the sink.
-Turn off and disconnect the water supply hose from the faucet.
-If this is a faucet with a sprayer you will need to disconnect the sprayer hose from the faucet as well.
-If this is a bathroom sink you will have to disconnect the drain stopper assembly, this should be self-explain when you look at it.
-Remove the nuts or nut holding the faucet in place. This can be a difficult task to get a wrech or pliers on the nut(s). If you are having difficulty you may need to acquire a tool called a "basin wrench" most hardware stores carry them ask for it, if the person knows his department he will take you right to it. They arn't terribly exspensive.
