JGBP79 GE Spectra XL44

I have a GE Spectra XL44, JGBP79.
My oven is not heating up...it does not ignite. I tested the touch pad with a test I found here at FixYa (although for a different model) and the only code that came up was F7 for the Control Board. There is no beeping or flashing of any code. I replaced the board, but the problem is still exactly the same. Thinking it is the ignitor.

The broiler and stove top both work...it is just the oven that is not firing up.

Any ideas/suggestions?

We are having the same problem with our oven- the broiler and stovetop work but the oven will not heat up. Someone mentioned to change the lower ignitor- any suggestions on how to go about doing that?

Yes I had the same problem on my JGBBP79. Change the lower igniter. About $75. Keep the range for a few more years and get rid of it. The next problem you'll mostly likely have is the touch pad F1 error. That stupid thing is +$300 and nothing more than a membrane touch pad attached to some glass. :-(

My Ge Stove Xl44 model JGBP79 the oven will not turn off, all other button seem to work but this one

It is possible the touch pad is not working. If you unplug the stove and the oven shuts off then it is more that likely the touch pad.

F1 and beep on my GE spectra oven XL44 what is that

Hello,
The F1 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F1 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced GENE

My GE XL44 Self-Cleaning Gas oven heats up but is about 125-130 degrees cooler than what it is set for.

To Adjust the Thermostat

  1. Touch the BROIL HI/LO and BAKE pads at the same time for 3 seconds until the display shows SF.
  2. Touch the BAKE pad. A two digit number shows in the display.
  3. Touch BAKE again to alternate between increasing and decreasing the oven temperature.
  4. The oven temperature can be adjusted up to (+) 35°F (19°C) hotter or (-) 35°F (19°C) cooler. Touch the number pads the same way you read them. For example, to change the oven temperature 15°F (8°C), touch 1 and 5.
  5. When you have made the adjustment, touch the START pad to go back to the time of day display. Use your oven as you would normally.

GE XL44 Oven does not work. top burners work. It worked yesterday; today it refuses.

you may have to replace the igniter. it might be burnt out already. you can purchase it on ebay, just type "GE igniter WB02X9154." or here: http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=a13b3c249i1990&PartID=1990 actually i'm also replacing my igniter too and i got the part on ebay. it's cheaper. hope this may help you!

Trouble changing a glow igniter on a GE Spectra xl44

Your replacement should have come with wire nuts.
Unplug the range.
Snip the wires and strip them back 3/8 inch and attach the wires from the replacement ignitor.

GE Spectra XL44

Sister, there is no pilot light on this model. Sounds like you have a bad ignitor, however the F7 code shows as a bad touch pad membrane. d7 must represent how many times this fault occured, although Im not finding anything that shows a d7 code. Try resetting the board by killing power to the range for about a minute. After turning the power back on press the COOKING TIME, DELAY START AND NUMBER 8 PADS ALL TOGETHER. The words test should be displayed. Now you are going to energize the bake circuit; press the bake and start, you should hear a click, this is the bake relay on the board. By holding the start button in you are energizing the ignitor (glow bar) in the oven. If you do not hear the click, suspect the control board. If you do hear the click and the ignitor is not glowing, you have a bad ignitor. Have someone with you to verify the ignitor is glowing when you are holding the start button in. To exit the test, just push CLEAR/OFF key pad. Catriver...post back
