Setting white balance olympus 500 - Olympus EVOLT E-500 Digital Camera

This is called "white balance"-- the indoor lights have a bit of a yellowish tint, while sunlight has more of a blue tint.
Try changing the white balance to Auto-- if you get bad results on Auto, try using the Indoor or Incandescent settings. You may have the white balance set on the "outdoor" or "flash" setting.

Do you have the white balance set to something other than "auto white balance"?

You may have the white balance set to something other than "auto white balance". If the pics look ok on the camera and on your computer, but the prints are blue, I would suspect the printer.

Did you make changes to the white balance setting?

Try a manual white balance setting using a white piece of paper as your target in the light you will be using.

It sounds as if you accidently hit the button for custom white balance setting. It is very easy to do with this camera as this button is located close to the shutter button.

Turn the camera mode dial to the P mode setting. Go to the Menu. Go to the camera 1 tab and then right arrow over and then down arrow to custom reset setting. Right arrow over and highlight reset and press ok. Highlight Yes and press ok. This will reset the camera back to factory settings and should remove the blue from your images.

If you are shooting in the Auto mode and make the changes when power the camera off it will reset back to factory defaults. If you change the dial to P mode, make those same adjustments and power the camera off and then on again it should maintain those settings. Auto just uses the factory defaulted settings.

First, put the mode dial to "P". Now you can use the menu to do a "CUSTOM RESET" (see p.118 of the printed manual).

This function is useful when you need more precise white balance than the Preset White Balance can provide. To set the optimum white balance for the shooting conditions, point the camera at a white object under the light source that you want to use, and press the OK button to set the white balance.
