Would advise you to download, install and run anti-spyware and anti-malware software, such as SpyBot and MalwareBytes. Good luck.

Cursor jumps into a previously-typed word or line and emails won't open

which email account ??

Acer laptop computers come with built-in touchpads to control cursor movement onscreen. Depending on the sensitivity and settings of the touchpad, it may register undesired motions as mouse controls, causing the cursor to jump erratically. The software drivers that Acer includes with its systems have sensitivity options that help alleviate this problem and ensure that only deliberate touchpad motions and taps cause the cursor to move.

Click on the Start menu and open the Control Panel. Choose an "Icon View" option from the "View by" dropdown menu, then click the "Mouse" icon. Navigate to the "Device Settings" tab and click on the Synaptics device in the list. If you have installed and use custom software other than a Synaptics application for controlling the touchpad, select it instead. Click the "Settings" button. Click the "+" symbol to expand the "Pointing" section in the left frame, and then the "Sensitivity" section. Click on "PalmCheck." If you have replaced the Synaptics drivers, the menu may use a different set of options. Click and drag the bar to the right, closer to the "Maximum" setting. An increased PalmCheck setting will help decrease cursor jumping due to accidental palm activations, a common occurrence when typing. Click on "Touch Sensitivity." Click and drag the bar to the right, closer to the "Heavy Touch" end. This will ensure light brushes by fingers or accidental activations by other objects will not cause the cursor to jump. Click "Apply" to test the settings, and "OK" when satisfied to save the changes and close the window.

I have an Acer laptop. While typing the cursor suddenly jumps up a couple of lines, or suddenly may highlight a phrase, causing instant erasure of the previously typed material. Why does cursor continually...

your palm might be hitting the touchpad causing your mouse cursor to move and jump around... try to type with only your fingers hitting the keys and the back of your hand raised and not hitting any part of your laptop... hope this helps....

Jumping cursor whilst typing on an acer aspire 5315

Is the touchpad active?
It is common that users accidently touches the touchpad while writing and this causes the cursor to "jump"...
Another possibility is that the "TAB" key is jammed...

Cursor continually jumps all over when trying to type

Touch pad mouse.
This unit has a "seamless touchpad with four-way integrated scroll button".
Yours is probably faulty, causing the cursor to be random.
Try disabling it and connecting a USB mouse.

Jumping cursor

This is a really common problem thats not actually a problem.
Go to trackpad settings and make sure tap to click is off.
Most laptops allow you to tap the track pad to act as a mouse button, try it go to an icon tap the trackpad youll see that the icon highlights as if you are actually left clicking.
When your typing the trackpad senses your arm or wrist occasionaly and thinks your tapping the mouse, thus moving the cursor.
So go into trackpad settings and turn off tap to click.

Skipping cursor problems

i was trying to assit my lacousin with her laptop "issues" and could not figure out how to stop the cursor from skipping around. when you start typing on her laptop the cursor has been known to:

move randomly while you're typing
highlights text and deletes it
jump all over the page

After doing many google searches, I was unsuccessful in finding a solution so I thought I'd post here. I have tried to make her touch pad less sensitive but nothing seems to work.

Thanks for touching basis with me for clarification...hopes this helps!

Cursor jumps around

Try this software:

http://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/downloads/list

Touch Freeze will disable the touchpad when you start typing. I have not used it, but give it a try.

Also, your touchpad could be wearing out or a driver reinstall could be in order. My wifes Toshiba had a bad touchpad and the cursor would jump all over the place. I disabled it and she now uses an external mouse. No problems anymore.
