I hook my suround sound up in my basement for some reason my tv sound will not com through my speakers and i know my speakers are working because my raido will work on the speakers and if i put a movie in my disc player the speakers work can you tell me why the tv will not work on my speakers.

It looks like all you'll need to do is hook up audio out from DirecTV to audio in on the surround sound system. Sony has an interesting hookup recommendation guide on the product support site:

That should give you the connection options. The short answer, though, is to connect the best audio out from DirecTV to an audio in on the surround sound and then choose that option in the surround sound system when you want to watch TV.

You need to connect receiver and TV through analog video terminals as above.
Actually you are expecting that receiver will convert DVD player and Xbox analog video input into digital HDMI signal for TV and This is incorrect.

I agree, it sounds like you need a new bulb. This happened to my projection TV not too long ago. Luckily replacing the dlp lamp is pretty easy. for the grand wega the particular model is the Sony XL 5200. Try DLPLamps.com. They got some good prices and they come with instructions on how to install when you buy it.
