This a problem of input grounding,the cable input is already loose or crack solder that why you hear a hum or distorted sound because not properly grounded it is a loose contact already thats why also is need to warm up and it will come.First change the cables with a new one with identical size and value then if problem still exist open the back cover ,when open look for the cable input connection parts joints reworks or resolder all soldered joints there .Then checks if it works then cover the unit.If you have no knowledge of electronics dont attempt to open to avoid electric shock.Find a electronics repairman or bring this to a authorized electronics repair shop maybe it cost you only $50.

Good luck;

Dont forget to rate...

Can't get 5.1 audio from bose surround system using PS3 blueray

Yes but first thing, the blu-ray disc you are playing must be 5.1 to get true 5.1. If it is an older movie/TV show, then it might be only 2 channel audio. If this is the case, then your Bose system needs to create simulated 5.1 surround sound, which is not true 5.1. However, if your blu-ray disc is a true 5.1, then your PS3 needs to be set to output 5.1. I am not familiar with the PS3 so I am not sure where to located that setting. Also, try other blu-ray discs.

Connect PS3 for playing/viewing blue-ray thru surround sound

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.

I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.

Cheers

No sound through tv speakers

Well the problem is that the PS3 only allows output on one channel. So, this is only going to be optical out, or hdmi, or even AV. You only get one option for the output.

Now, if your TV has the capability.. Run the sound through the HDMI to the TV and then let the TV output the digital sound to the surround system. This will give you the option of turning off the surround and re-enabling the TV's stereo speakers.

I hope this gives you an idea of what the problem is. If I were you, I'd just do as I said. This is exactly how I have mine setup. I have a 600w sub on the surround, so late night movies can't be played on it without the neighbors being woke up. So, I simply disable the TV's output and use it's speakers. :)

NO SURROUND SOUND WHEN PLAYING BLU-RAY

Your amplifier should "downgrade" the signal to 5.1, even if the disc isn't using it. It is most likely a setting on your amp that may need adjusting for "types" of digital to accept on its input. If you can, set your optical input on your amp to "auto". This way it will automatically detect and switch for the proper incoming audio feed

Playstation 3 audio connection into Yamaha HTR-6040 AV Receiver

Is Yamaha HTR-640 a receiver? Try HDMI from PS3 to receiver or Sony HDTV. If HDMI from PS3 to receiver the you need and HDMI from receiver to out Sony HDTV. You could connect everything to receiver and HDMI out to HDTV. You can not have an HDMI cable AND an optical cable coming out of the PS3, only one or the other.
