I downloaded the win7 drivers, but it seems there is a gap setting or something I am missing, the labels have a notch on the right side.
As a metter of fact, yes there is a cell detecting the gap.
You must turn the Green knob so that the detecting cell is on the notch. You must program the height of the label and in the driver you must give the size of the notch in the Support Tab.
D'ont forget to alse specify if it's direct or thermal transfer.

First of all can you print just from the printer ie
Turn on the power while
holding down the [FEED]
key and [PAUSE] key?

Various possibilities:
- The data cable on the head is not correctly inserted.
- the head is out of order.
- You are printing with a driver with a lower graphic resolution than the head resolution

You should recalibrate your sensor without or use reflective sensor instead of transmissive.
SOURCE: TEC B472 won't print full qty of labels
What is the software used?
Normally the printer will decrement or increment its counters when the correct instructions are sent, If it is the pc that sends the labels then your problem is due to the pc.
Otherwise if the count is internal then external electromagnetic noises may cause this sort of phenomenon.
If it's on a parallel port, then your problem may comme from the vibrations of the printer. The init signal on this port is very near to a gnd pin and with the vibrations this causes a reset of the printer.
Last problem may come from a firmware deterioration. All depends cpu either the firmware is Eprom or Rom.
SOURCE: The 'eye' won't read the space between the labels,
recalibrate the sensors and check your label lengths and gap size
You did not adjust the label sensor.(media sensor)
1- for labels with a noth move towards the notch
2-for labels with a space between them move towards middle.
