SOURCE: cabel clutch

I think you're asking where the clutch cable attaches to the deck. It slips over the top of the mounting bolt on the idler pulley with a cotter pin through the hole on the top to keep it in place. It is the pulley that swivels to tighten the belt. Hope that helps..........

SOURCE: Broken manual clutch cable

You can go to www.Searspartsdirect.com and put you units model number in and order the cable yourself. They can ship it right to your house and you can swap the cable yourself with just simple hand tools.

You can see the details on the idler attachment in the parts schematic when you are ordering your new cable.

Good luck and be careful!

SOURCE: I have a 26 horsepower husqvarna tractor and when

I will offer a common solution although it may not be yours. If you think the engine is dying because of an "electrical" problem and not "bogging down" I would check the connection at the seat safety switch. This is an "operator presence" switch and if the mower "thinks" that no one is sitting on the seat, anytime the PTO or clutch is activated, the engine will cut off because it kills the ignition to the spark plug. It gets a little tricky because not only may the switch be malfunctioning but the connector that plugs into the button switch has it's own internal switch. So what this means is that if the connector has slipped and is not engaged all the way, the internal switch is not made or if the the internal switch is not working, is will kill the ignition to the spark plug as mentioned above. Hope this helps to some degree.

SOURCE: I was given a bagger

It is made by AYP, how about you use google, find their website, purchase or download an illustrated parts breakdown and manual for it. This way you learn to help yourself. You are asking someone else to do for you what you can easily do for yourself. Hand a man a fish or teach a man to fish.

SOURCE: Found large spring at end

There are 4 pulleys on your deck. Two for the blades, these are the big ones on the outsides. To the insides there are two, one on left side is an idler and the one on the right is a tenioning pulley that hooks to the blade engage lever throught the cable you found. Look on top of this pulley and see if it has a piece sticking up. If so the spring at the end of the cable attaches here. Slide it over. You also need to find the clip that goes through the little hole in the end that keeps it from sliding off. Make sure that the cable is properly routed and attached near the back of the deck. If it is still attached, good, if not you will have to find that pin also.

If this is helpful, please rate.

Testimonial: "I tracked down the problem, hooked up the cable, put the pin back in, got the blades to engage before I got your response.Thank you just the same."

How do you change cable on husqvarna yth20k46 to engage blade?

Start by locating the spring on the cable end marked "1" on the drawing. Remove tension and spring. Then under the hood you will see the lever control marked "2" remove the fastener and then the cable.

Blades not disengaging

is the blade engagement system a lever or a switch?
If a lever , then look on the deck where the pulley applies tension to the drive belt for a sticking point. the cable from the lever will be attached to it and it should move smoothly in and out of drive position. sounds like the pulley is not retracting when cable is released. check for sticking of pulley arm or maybe a missing return to idle/off spring is broken or missing.
The deck should disengage as soon as the tension on the cable is removed.

if electric, the clutch itself is always getting power, so a swithc circuit fault is to be expected.

I need to change the clutch cable, can you help?

Clutch cables can either be really easy to change, or a pain in the rear.

Usually, it's a matter of simply loosening the nuts attaching the cable to both the clutch lever and the clutch arm on the engine casing, sliding it all out, getting a new cable made (Or making one yourself) and re-attaching it the same way it came off.

Most Mechanics won't charge much to make a new cable. I made one up today for a customer, it takes about 15 minutes with the right tools. It's usually cheaper than buying the cable yourself and cutting it to size too.

Be wary that the bike doesn't have a hydraulic clutch though. If it has a resovior next the the lever then it probably needs a fluid change as it might have air in the line. (There is no cable on these models)

Clutch will not disengage

Chances are the clutch lever assembly (where the cable attaches to the gearbox) has gotten out of position on the Axle push lever (the shaft that goes into the side cover and the lever is attached to). The shaft is splined for the lever to attach. Re-fit the lever on the shaft and try it now. If the splines are stripped then you may need to drill a 1/8" hole through the lever and shaft then insert a 1/8" cold roll split pin to anchor the two together.

The bottom of the axle shaft fits in the side cover and actuates a lever to separate the clutch plates. This mechanism could be bad.
If that is the case then get the entire COVER ASSEMBLY part number 5NY-15490-00. The assembly comes with a new shaft.

The clutch cover mount bolts should be 8 to 10 ft. lbs. This is not a factor in your problem.

Install a 97 saab 900s clutch cable

1. Remove the battery.
2. Remove the clutch cable end from the clutch arm end at the wire stop.
3. Slide out the rubber doughnut from the gearbox housing which holds the clutch cable
4. Move the distribution box nut and the alarm pin attached to it (some modules)
5. Disconnect the clutch cable holder from the fender and the data link holder.
6. Remove the drivers lower panel below the steering wheel and remove the air duct as well as the knee shield.
7. Slide out the fuse box holder and ICE Box (should be a black box with many wires going to it). You can remove the instrument cluster at this point but you can also do this without removing the cluster with a little patience
8. Move the pedal spring to one side and remove the eye catch for the cable.
9. Remove the clutch cable by pulling it out from the engine compartment
10. Reinstall in the reverse. Saab actually came out with a bulletin which Needed one to install two washers at the back of the new cable instead of one. The factory cable comes with one but you can remove the 2nd washer off the old cable and install it on the new cable so two exist. This helps take up excessive pedal slack.
