The serial number really doesn't have anything to do with the HDD size. Only because they are so easily changed. It would be worth, getting one with a smaller Hdd, and then upgrade it to a 1TB HDD for the cost of around $75.00. There are only a couple of variations to the ones to look out for. The old "fat" systems, the 40GB size, was also called the"reverse GEN" system. The new "super slim" released in the U.S. has 2 variations. A 250GB and a 12GB.

Not sure which wiring diagram to look at but mechanics say it's a gs 1000 n but serial numbers read just gs 1000
If there is a difference it should be very minor or a duplicate. Most Mfd. doesn't spend time on wiring details. Some do, they are the better machines.

Eh? Maybe try reading the caption of your posting. The GS might say something about model or make but serial number usually covers date, place, and order off an assembly line somewhere, if that much.

Hi Lisa. I am not sure what you mean by find. But if you want to locate the serial number it is on the back of the console. Here is a link from Sony explaining the details along with allowing to you to identify the model with the features it has (eg. backwards compatibility). Hope this is helpful.

If you have the original box then the serial number should be on a sticker on the box.

The receipt and serial are only important if you're trying to get FREE warranty work. Its not important if you have to pay.

Sony will only refuse servicing your PS3 if they know you tampered with it.
