How can I get my Janome Jem Gold bobbin winder to work again?

It slips--like the bobbin pin is not grabbing the bobbin. It used to work.

Try putting machine oil in particular points. Otherwise find a serviceman to help.

SOURCE: bobbin wont spin

I had the same problem last night but was able to solved it by flipping the plastic bobbin over and re-seating it on the post. This time it clicked in and I was then able to get the post to spin. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Janome sewing machine bobbin winder

I had that problem the first time I tried to wind a bobbin. What a mess. The next time I let the thread run through my finger and thumb before reaching the bobbin. I had to do the same on a previous Kenmore.

I've also found that the heavier Bernina bobbins don't 'jump' around.

SOURCE: Bobbin winding message

Under the top cover, on the right hand side where the bobbin winder is, there is a small switch which is activated when the bobbin is being wound. You will need to remove the cover and reposition the switch (it's located towards the front of the machine) to make it work properly.

Your sewing machine needs to be taken into an authorized dealer for service.

Janome 660 sewing machine has broken bobbin winder spindle. I can order a new spindle, but cannot get the cover off of the machine. all screws are out.

You can purchase a stand-alone bobbin winder from the local fabric store (JoAnns or Hancocks) or Amazon.com for ~$25.

I need a manual for this machine

Hi
I'mot sure if this will help.
I couldn't find manuals for Jem Silver machines on the Janome website, only Jem Gold or Platinum.
This is the partial manual for the Jem Gold 2, it should be enough to help with the basics of your machine, like threading etc.
http://www.janome.com/documents/File/ManualFile/JemGold2.pdf
Hope this helps!

Need to know how to thread bobbin

manuals can be purchased @ janome. com. your machine should have a bobbin winder. Set empty bobbin on the bobbin winder pin. Thread spool of thread though guide(or tension wheel on the top of the machine;NOT the stitching tension.) wrap thread around bobbin to start, and push bobbin toward the flywheel. slowly press foot pedal and bobbin should begin to turn. apply more pressure to foot pedal to increase speed. When full, bobbin winder should kick back to stop.
