Please check if you have enough space in your hard disk. Run a disk defrag to increase disk thruput. The scanner scans in JPG or TIF but converted to PDF before sending data to Harddisk, so it helps to have large free memory. In other words close unwanted programs when not required.

Slow PDF "save" speed is a little vague but, as Mark mentioned, Lower DPI=Smaller file size. Color and Greyscale greatly increase the file size, and therefore will slow down the time it takes to save, view, or move the image file. I would say that if you are scanning BW at 200 or 300 DPI, and the process is slow, then the problem is likely with your computer.

Change the scan resolution to 200 dots per inch (200 dpi). If 300 it tajes a few seconds. If 1200 dpi, it may take really long.

SOURCE: Why can't I scan and save to a PDF file? My

This depends upon the Scanning software you are using. if you are using DR series of Scanners, you can download Captureperfect 2 from the Internet which has the option to save directly as a PDF file.

How do I upload miniDV tapes to PC running windows 7. What's the best way to save the tapes for editing

Use the IEEE1394 Firewire interface on your PC if you have one. If your PC does not have a IEEE1394 port then you may be able to add one via an internal add-on card or a PCMCIA card if it is a laptop. With Windows 7, you can use Windows Moviemaker to capture the video. Don't bother with USB capture as this will be low quality and too slow. Moviemaker is not great for editing so you should investigate alternatives.
Captured video will take about 4GB of hard disk space for 20 minutes of video. If you are using a FAT32 file system then this is the maximum file size limit. You should therefore use NTFS to capture large video files.

Pdf file size is too big

Not sure where are you sending the image too? Is this a printer or an email.
If its an email you might want to try using dropbox or use goggle email, which allow much bigger files.

Cannot save PDF Files

There could be several reasons why you're unable to save a PDF file in PDF or DOC format. Some possible causes include:
  • The file is open in another program: Make sure the PDF file is not open in another program and try saving it again.
  • The file is locked or protected: Some PDF files may be locked or protected, which can prevent them from being edited or saved.
  • The file is corrupted: Sometimes files can become corrupted, which can prevent them from being saved. Try opening the file in a different PDF viewer, and if it opens without issue, then the problem might be with the viewer you were using.
  • Insufficient permissions: Make sure that you have permission to save the file in the location where you are trying to save it.
  • The drive or folder where you're trying to save the file is full: Make sure the drive or folder where you're trying to save the file has enough free space.
  • Problem with the software: It could be a problem with the software you're using to open and save the file. Try using a different PDF viewer or word processing software to open and save the file.
It's difficult to say exactly what the problem is without more information, but by checking these possible causes, you may be able to identify and fix the issue.

Can i use a picture saved in a file for my wallpaper

It needs to exported from the PDF as a image file like jpg, bmp, png... but to export it you may need Adobe Acrobat not just the reader. PDF files tend to locked. You could also capture the picture from the doc with print screen, but you will loose the original resolution.

Once you have the file exported, just open with Windows Picture viewer and set as backbround.

I have a Canon MP240. I am trying to scan in photographs but some of them keep getting saved as PDF files. How do I fix this?

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

Well thats a good trick, you must have your software set to automatically save as a .PDF I assume you must be scanning a lot of documents and very few pictures. You need to go into the software you are using to scan with and change the settings. Since I don't know what your using to scan with I cant help you there. But I do have a suggestion that may give you a bit of control for just pictures. If you google Canon MP240 Capture Perfect , just like I have it written. A page will pop up on your search and download this program called Capture Perfect from the official Canon website. Its free program and you can then control how you want to save your pictures. But you will have to call this program up prior to starting your scan. At the point you complete your scan it will ask you how you want to save it and where you want to save it.

I hope this helps you out.

Hi, I cannot print a pdf file or that kind of attachment. Only Word can print. Adobe error shows up and want to shut down the program for protection. I never had the problem before. Just started.

Is it a file that you created in pdf format, or is it one that you have had emailed or attempting to open from another source? Some pdf files have protection put on them by the file originator to avoid the file being changed/printed. Here are some tips to try to get them to print for you.
  1. Open your computer's Internet browser.

  2. 2

Type www.a-pdf.com/security/a-pdf-rr.exe in the browser's URL box to access the PDF restriction converter "A-PDF Restrictions Remover."

  3. 3

Press the "Enter" or "Return" key. Your Internet browser will access the site's PDF converter file. A dialog box will appear on your screen--"Opening a-pdf-rr.exe."

  4. 4

Click "Open" or "Run" to download and set up the program directly. Click "Save" or "Save As" to save the program's setup file on your computer for running later--use this option if you using a slow connection like dial-up. The program will download and set up on your computer if you selected the "Open" or "Run" option.

If saving the file to your computer, navigate to the directory where you want to save the file to. Select the "Desktop" if you have a hard time locating downloaded files on your system.

You do not have to access the A-PDF Restrictions Remover website again once the file starts downloading or saving to your computer.

  5. 5

Double click on the "a-pdf-rr.exe" icon to open the program, if you selected the "Save" or "Save As" option.

  6. 6

Click "Run" when prompted with the "Open File -- Security Warning."

  7. 7

Click "Next." Click on the circle by the wording "I accept the agreement." Click "Next."

  8. 8

Select the directory where you want to save the "A-PDF Restrictions Remover" file. The default is your "C:\Program Files\A-PDF Restrictions Remover" folder. Click "Next."

  9. 9

Click "Next," "Install" and then "Finish." A-PDF Restrictions Remover will start automatically.

  10. 10

Navigate to the directory where the protected PDF file is located.

  11. 11

Right-click on the PDF file name. Select "Remove Restrict & Save As."

  12. 12

Select a location to save the converted PDF file to. Click "Save." If you want to change the PDF file's name, enter a new name in the box next to the wording "File name." The protected PDF is now converted to a unprotected one.

  13. 13

Double-click on the converted file to open it.

  14. 14

Select "File," "Print" and then "OK" to print the unprotected, converted PDF file.

  15. Printing a Protected PDF By Taking a "Screen Shot"
  16. 1

    Open the protected PDF file2

  17. Press the "Alt" and "PrtScrn" keys together. The PrtScrn key is located on the upper right-hand side of your keyboard, if using a desktop computer keyboard. If using a laptop, the PrtScrn key is located above the "F10" function key.

  18. 3

Open your computer's word processing program by clicking on the program's icon on your system's "Desktop" or from the "All Programs" menu.

  19. 4

Press "CTRL" and "V" keys together to paste the screenshot into a blank document.

If using a Mac, click "Edit," "Paste" from the main toolbar at the top of your word processing program.

  20. 5

Click "File," "Print" and then "OK" to print the PDF screenshot. If the protected PDF file contains more than one page, press the "PgDn" key and repeat steps 2 through 5.

Where are the captured videos kept, I am running out of space on my HD. I have edited and saved movies I want off to another disk, but the originals are still on my C drive somewhere

Search your computer for all files with an extension that you use for your video files, whether it be mpg, mov, avi, etc. When you installed Pinnacle studio, you determined where the files would be stored or let it go to pinnacles default setting. Go to my computer right click and do a search for files >25Mb and that should bring up at least some of your files. Then look at the location (folder) where they are stored and you will find all of the others in there as well. Burn, transfer and/or delete what you don't want any longer. You might also try to open pinnacle studios, start a new project and save it, to see where pinnacle stores it. The rest should be there. Good luck and I hope this helps.
