Electrical timer/lock/release malfunction
I have recently had a fault with my ewf1495. The original symptom was wet clothes eg not spinning properly. It appeared to be out of balance and shutting down, I noticed a bit of slack in the bearings so replaced them but the fault ended up being a broken wire in the motor IDC connector which was caused by poor factory assembly, the cable tie to the loom was so loose that a finger could fit in. The wobble of the drum eventually fractured the wire at the IDC connector but the insulation held it together so a visual inspection did not show it up. It was only after the drum bearing replacement that the extra fiddling shook it loose and stopped working altogether. The proof is when it was loaded with clothes it would shut down but if unloaded it would spin to full speed, the wire was just barely touching and the extra wobble with a load moved it away, visible evidence of arcing was visible at the end of the broken wire. The fix is to regerminate the wire. I recommend that the cable tie be checked on all Electrolux front load washing machines as I have noticed similar symptoms mentioned on the web. Of the machines faulty area in question poor design and poor quality control are the root cause.
How Can I get to the motor IDC connector?
