How can I remove small dead ants from the clock area of the panel of my GE Spectra range?

This has been getting worse over the past 2 years, and soon the ants will cover the clock completely. Our daughter has the same oven and is experiencing the same problem, so it must be inherent with these ranges. I have started loosening the top panel but find it difficult to get at the source of the problem, so need help. Thanks!

SOURCE: Claibrating the temperature of a GE gas oven

First of all, do not use the oven thermometers from a grocery store. they can be off by 20 degrees or more. These directions may help you for electronically controlled ovens. The older manually controlled ovens have a small screw head in the center of the oven temperature knob that can be adjusted in usually 10 degree increments.

To Adjust the Thermostat
Touch the Bake and Broil Hi/Lo pads
at the same time for 3 seconds until the
display shows SF.
Touch the Bake pad. A two digit number
shows in the display.
Touch Bake once to decrease (-)
the oven temperature, or twice to
increase (+).
The oven temperature can be adjusted
up as much as 35°F. or down as much
as 35°F. Touch the number pads the
same way you read them. For example,
to change the oven temperature 15°F,
touch 1 and 5.
When you have made the adjustment,
touch the Start pad to go back to the
time of day display. Use your oven as
you would normally.
NOTE: The thermostat adjustment for Baking
will also affect Convection Baking or Convection Roasting.

SOURCE: ge spectra gas stove top not lighting

There is nothing fancy about how the gas controls work on this unit. Do all burners give you the same problem? If so, it could be a kinked service hose or a service valve that has been partly shut. If it is limited to a single burner or two, the valve may be gummed up and should be replaced.

SOURCE: My broiler works - but the oven does not - GE Dual Fuel range

Thanks for providing the full model number, which allows us to look up part numbers and see exploded views of your product.
Most likely the bake ignitor is bad (even if it still glows, it may not draw enough amperage to allow the gas safety valve to open). One way you can test this on your model is to swap out the broil ignitor for the bake ignitor, as they are the same part number on your model. (part number WB13T10045) The broiler is normally used much less than the oven, so the part does not fail very often on the broiler. You will have to take the cover off the floor of the oven, then the flame spreader, to reach the burner area. The ignitor is the rectangular part at the back, on the side of the burner. (only two wires to deal with) (By the way, for future reference, your model number ends is SS, as in stainless steel, not a 55)

SOURCE: Clock on a GE electric range is buzzing - how to disconnect it

Turn off power to range first!!!

You'll have to remove the back of the panel in which the clock is installed to access the back of the clock. There will be two wires attached to the clock. Just pulling one of these wires off will stop the clock.

I would suggest, however, that you pull both wires off, put electrical tape on the ends of the connectors, and tuck them out of the way somewhere around the clock.

Turn on gas oven; it lights, big poof/pop comes; then continues to light and heat properly. How do I stop it from popping? The pop is scary!! GE Spectra Gas Stove/Oven

Hello,

The reason it "POOFS" is because the igniter is slightly weak and some gas enters before it gets lit, this will continue and get worse. To resolve it the igniter would need to be replaced and then as soon as the gas enters it would light it right away without collecting before it lit.

We have a GE Spectra,What is F1?how do you stop it from beeping when it does it?

Remove the back panel to the range and check the wires coming from the oven temperature sensor to the control board. Check and make sure the connector is secure, you can also bypass the connector plug by cutting off the connectors and joining the wires directly. If directly joining the wires doesn't solve the f1 code error, then you may have to replace the control board.

  1. Disconnect power to stove
  2. Gain access to the back of the clock (electronic range control or ERC).
  3. Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire approx. 1 1/2" to 2" wide.
  4. Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on.
  5. Turn power back on to stove.
  6. Watch for the F1 and listen for the beep.
  7. If you get the F1 and beep, replace the ERC.
  8. If after approx. 30 minutes you do NOT get the F1 and hear the beep, replace the touch pad.
NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock as one part.

Panel Clock flickered then went out. Everything died. Power to unit OK. Is this the contol Panel?

You can remove the rear panel and look for a loose wire on the control panel. If you don't see a loose wire, you will need to replace the panel. What is the model number that is displayed on the range?

Hello, I have the GE Spectra XL44 and after a power outage our clock either runs too fast, or too slow... either way, or clock does not keep proper time. I have turned the break off a couple of times to...

it sounds like the clock chip I.C. is defective, you could try the self diagnostics on the unit, theres a tech sheet inside the unit to help you, otherwise after the power outage there probably was a surge and it got past the M.O.V. protector and into the circuitry and ruined an i.ci. chip, also check any ribbon cables connecting the unit and control board to look for any discolored wires or damaged wires

Does GE Spectra JBP68 have a fuse? Only 1/2 of range is working.

Your GE Spectra does NOT have a fuse, but it has a electronic control board, as well as elements. If both your elements heat up at all, then they are good. If you will contact us at:
http://www.fixya.com/repair/d499389-accurate_appliance_repair_service we can discus the issues with your range and I will attempt to get you back up and running again soon.

You may contact us from 7 AM until 9 PM CST Monday through Saturday for appliance assistance and parts.

We look forward to working with you.
