TD-1232 PBX - is is a programming issue or hardware issue?

All of a sudden, one single line connected to our TD1232 has gone dead. I've checked with the phone company and all is fine. the number rings constantly when it is called but internally, there no indication that a call is coming through. When you try to select that line to dial, it is completely dead (No dial tone) There are 6 standard telephone lines in the PBX. The problem is that the line in question is part of a rolling hunt group (not from the phone company) which when lines 1-2 are occupied, the line in question just rings instead of rolling over to the next 3 lines, thus making it seem like nobody is at the business. Lines are good and I've even physically switched around the incoming lines on the TD1232 to see if that makes a difference and it doesn't. The phone company indicated it may be a problem with the TD1232 but how can I tell. I've reset, rebooted, and killed the power for 5 minutes. No changes. Please advise

Ok so the first thing you should do is to get to where your PB X connects to the lines and ensure that there is a standing voltage on the lines. usually 50 v dc in the uk.

check each line has 50 volts with a multimeter when nthey are not active.

if line 3 has no voltage your problem is the line.

if line 3 does have voltage at 50 v idle ring the lines out 1 then 2 then 3 foir a analogue line to present ringing bthe voltage increases and is in cadence with the ringing. if again the voltage does not increase during the ringing cycle then the problemn is again with the line.

if the line 3 has 50 v idle and increase in voltage during ringing, then the problem is the line interface in the PBX

hope that this helps all above is for analogue lines only

SOURCE: Incoming Call not Ringing

Either call line 3 first, or make your phone ring :-)

What might be the easiest is to swap modular plugs in the back room between 2 and 5. That way, you get your old extension back and everything will work as it did.

If you can't do that, then you're going to have to do some system programming to turn on the ringing on your phone. If you have a TA series system, you should be able to do it from either the PC or a phone connected to jack $1. If you have another model, you should have a system manual on how do make programming changes.

SOURCE: no dialtone

If you use Dsl as a internet provider make sure you have the filters on each phone. If you use cablevision and have a wireless connection make sure you chage the phone to a 5.2ghz because you might have the wireless router with the same ghz causing a coflict. This will also create loss. of internet connections then you use the phone

SOURCE: Unable to hang up phone. The line is busy/can't make/receive call

sounds like you need a DSL filter, go to page 41 of the manual ("http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/KXTG1032.pdf" if you don't have it) good luck!

Are ther amaster password for td 1232 if i forget the password?

What good would it be is there was a master password? That is something like having a save, knowing a master key can be owned by everyone.
A good security system takes care once a password is set, it can't be overruled.

Can I use the Tel jack on the back of the phone to connect a fax and use it to dial an outside line?

Sure, why not? It needs to be turned on and wired to work. Check the TD-1232 programming manual for the proper programming and the 39x code to separate the two extension numbers. . Make sure that the first pair of the cable is wired to your jack if it's a 308 or 1232. In an 816 the 2 pairs should be intact from the main cabinet and you need to check the wiring if it's an expansion card.

Have a kxt-7453 and need to attach a heart monitor which needs an analog phone line. On the back of the kx-t7453 is an XDP jack to attach a fax machine. This would be the analog port; however, there is...

It depends on the system the phone is wired to. A TD-816 has modular plugs on the base cabinet, but uses an Amphenol cable for the expansion units, and a 1232 is all Amp. You need 4 wires to make it work. The quickest way to test is is to unplug the digital phone and plug a single line set into the same jack. If it works, then you need to do some system programming. If it doesn't some wiring.

The digital phone uses the outer paris of a 4-conductor jack, and the analog/XDP is on the inner pairs. We always use 2-pair jumper wire on TD systems, but some installers cheat and don't wire both pairs. You'll know if it works because the single line phone you plug into the jack alone will have the same extension number as the digital set.

If you have dial tone there, by default, when you plug in the digital set, the XDP has to be turned on in program 600 and there's a merge/unmerge comand. The XDP port is 100 more than the station (ie 103/203) and the code to merge/unmerge is 390 and 391 (I can't remember which, so look at the display as one merges (probably 1 and one doesn't 0)

You'll have to teach the device to dial "9" or an access code 81-88 to get a specific line or group.

Outside of that, it's not that bad to program.

I have a Kx-TD1232 pbx and would like to activate the 2nd music on hold feature. any ideas of how to handle that?

This should be an audo response...the one with the big horse laugh :-)

Panasonic TD's have 4 music sources, BUT there is no tenant service. You can play SOURCE 1 to trunks and SOURCE 2 to BGM and external page, but you can't play Source 1 to trunks 1-3 and Source 2 to trunks 4-6. A TD has no tenant service. That was addressed in the TDA system.

System programs 803 and 990 control how the music is played and where. There is external equipment that can split music to different trunk groups. It's expensive so the upgrade from a TD to a TDA might be a better option.

Can i get a pssword for pbx panasonic kx-td 1232 without reset the system

Sure. It's a dealer option to crack the password. There's a brute force program that will do it, or there's an installer trick. I can't give you either one in a public forum. Please call a Panasonic TD dealer. You may find one at www.kxt411.com

Is tha possible to get 25 single lines on 16SLC card(50 pin)

The 25-pair Amphenol connector is just something the industry uses because it's standard and easy. In a TDA system, the 8-port C.O. Trunk card uses the first 8 pairs, a 16-port the first 16 pairs, an 8-port Pana station card uses the first 24 pairs, 3 pairs per extension. The last pars don't have any hardware behind it and are connected to nothing.

The only phone system that I remember where all 25 pairs are used is a 1a2 10 button set and, maybe a Comdial system where the 25th pair is the common audible for station 17 :-)

I'd like a (relatively) simple answering machine for d1232.

I can get you there, but you have to do some programming.

A Panasonic TD-1232 starts its life with 16 analog and 16 digital ports. On the back of your digital phone is a modular jack called an XDP If you plug in a single line device and dial 390 from the digital set, and it's programmed, you will split the extensions to whatever your number is and 100 more than your number (by default). So, if you're 110, the XDP analog port is 210.

Once you get that far, it's a (fairly) simple matter to go into programming and make 10-2 (the second port for your hardware) ring on any and all lines you choose.

I hope this is a good start, as full programming is beyond the scope of a free forum.

How many stations can a Panasonic D1232 support?

If it says D1232 on the box, it's a TD-1232. Look at the black and silver tag on the side of the KSU, IIRC the TD-1232's tag is on the lower right outside above the power cord. Three is a TA-1232 a TD-1232, and a 123210/11. Only the TD is digital (uses 72xx/74xx phones).

As far as SYSTEM phones, the TA/TD 1232 come out of the box as 8x16 devices and you add cards to expand it. These cards have -70 part numbers and are fairly difficult to find. (I think I have one or two on my shelf). If you really have a 123211, it also expands by using cards, that fit vertically in the card file with an AMP connector plugged into its face. Those are easier to find, the risk there is when you turn off the system to install them, it sometimes forgets to power back up.

Lastly, if you really have a TD with digital phones, there is an ANALOG port on the back of each digital phone that can be wired for seperate extensions (by default it's 100 more than the digital extension). You can add single line devices in those ports.(Some restrictions apply :-). For two quick phones, you might go that route.
