3A should be fine. Pride uses 3A for other models with two U1 batteries. Make sure they're wheelchair batteries: gel or AGM. Not car batteries.

Dead AGM and Gel batteries usually will not take a charge. Try to charge them and if they will not, replace them.

MK batteries and/or interstate batteries are top quality. you get what you pay for cheap batteries are manufactured cheaply.

Well you don't need a 24 volt battery you will need 2 12 volt batteries for a total of 24 volts Contact any local Battery distributor or Interstate battery dealer. You will need 2 U1 sealed AGM or Gel cell batteries and the cost will be $175.00 to $218.00 for 2 batteries. After installing the new batteries be sure to charge before use and then charge every nite for the next 20 days. have the batteries checked, there are two gel cell 12 volt batteries, that if one or both will not hold a charge, they will fail on incline as the load on the chair is greater going up hill. Test this out by trying a hill near your house. I had to change one of the batteries in another model Pride that my wife uses for the same problem. The one battery would not hold a charge.

ggirl why did you buy a pig in the poke they should refund your money because the batteries should have a six month warranty. Now always ask for the date code on batteries you are buying they shouldn't be any older than 4 months old. There are good batteries out there but if I offend anyone I'm sorry but MK batteries are very good also Interstate batteries and probably others that I'm not aware of. The best way to insure good batteries are buying fresh batteries, Charge them before you use the chair and always get into the habit of charging overnite if you use the chair daily. Never leave the charger plugged in more that 12 hours and if you don't use the chair daily charge at least once a week and always put up fully charged. Mk recommends charging the batteries daily for the first 20 days. Never run the batteries or let them fall below the red light on your battery level indicator. Your chair runs on about a 5 volt range (26-21 volts) after that the red light blinks like crazy. If it falls below 20 volts the charger will not charge the batteries. If you take care of them they should last you 3 years or more. Hope this helps
