Focusing a webcam that is out of arms reach

Focusing a web cam that is out of arms reach

If your webcam has focus control in the operating software, then this topic may be a little confusing. But for some folks, me being one, the web cam has to be focused by turning a dial on the front of the camera. What's the big deal? The big deal is if you can't reach the camera from where you are sitting and you need to stand and/or lean and reach forward, then how do you focus on you if you're not where you need to be?

Assuming that your camera is normally positioned on top of your monitor directly in front of you. Here's what you can do. Sit in your normal position, take the webcam and hold it against your chest and aim it at the monitor. Adjust the focus until the preview image that is displayed on the monitor is clear. Then when you place the cam back in it's normal position, and aim it at you, the image should still be in focus.

If your cam is built-in, like the ones that come with many laptops, they usually have auto focus. But if it doesn't, you have no choice but to hold the entire laptop in front of you. In that case, use a mirror that has a stand, an place it where the laptop normally is placed. You can then focus the cam on the image in the mirror.

I just bought a new webcam, the iHome Mylife Web camera.. and it keeps auto focusing! How do I get it to just stay on one focus level?

Hi - Try this:
1) In the Crazy Talk Cam Suite that came with the camera, click the Settings button.
2) The Settings dialog box displays. Select the Avatar Live! tab, unselect Face tracking to trigger head movement. Click OK.
3) In the main Crazy Talk Cam Suite window, unselect Enable Facial Tracking.

My web cam 4tech is not clear

Is the audio not clear or the video not clear?.

If the camera is plugged in and installed correctly then you should be able to open up a web cam program like skype, gmail or messenger and test out the camera, as well as adjust the camera's settings.

If the camera lens does not have auto focus, see if you can move the camera lens around in both directions. Some cameras have this for manual focusing. If you cannot access the camera lens then it SHOULD have an auto focus feature.

Also, play around with the camera settings (brightness, focus, zoom, sharpness) to find the best combination of setting for your environment.

Older cameras dont have very good resolutions so don't expect a high quality image or frame rate.

Some webcams have a focus on the front of the lense that you turn. Try truning whatever you can on the webcam.

Focusing web cam

I'm not sure what the rest of your sentence says about "but they see us...)
Most Web Cams have a lens that can be turned right or left to focus the lens. Have them view you and adjust the lens both ways to see if that helps. If you can view yourself and its clear it may not help adjusting the lens. But its worth a try. Hope it helps. Bud

Web cam blurry

There are basically 2 adjustment can be made to focus your webcam, 1st is by the webcam software, try to search from the software any feature that can focus your webcam. The 2nd is the mechanical adjustment on the webcam itself, try to rotate the focus ring (webcam's eye) and see how the picture improvement.
