Seems to be issue with the switch. If you can get internet after bypassing the switch then it is for sure an issue with the switch. try connecting the cable to other ports of the switch.

If it still does not work then it is time for you to replace the switch.

Rate it,if it helps.

The "limited access" message is an indicator that Windows has not been able to get an IP address by DHCP, usually an encryption related issue. I would recommend to use WPA, WPA2 encryption.

Remove all your wireless networks stored, re-add your own SSID(wireless network), make sure to type the correct encryption.

Get instant online Netgear router support at to fix any issue related with your Netgear router/wireless router problem.

Can you specify the problem more closely? It's not working at all or it can't connect to the internet? You should check if your power cable is plugged in and device is turned on. Check out users manual for more details. You can get it here: Netgear n300 users manual

Limited info. Hard to help. Do you have a router that can allocate ip addresses to all the computers? That's a start.

Unplug both of them. Make sure one end of an Ethernet cable is plugged into the modem's Ethernet output port and the other end is plugged into the router's single WAN/Internet input port. Plug in the modem and wait for it to boot up and then plug in the router and see if it works.

I have a netgear ds116 hub and i want to set up a linksys router

Here's what you can do. Don't connect the Linksys router yet to the hub. Connect 1 computer directly to the Linksys router. Access the router's setup page of the Linksys router thru

It will prompt you for username and password. No username and password is admin.

Look for Local IP Address or LAN IP Address. Change the LAN or Local IP Address of the Linksys router to then click on Save Settings at the bottom. Right after saving the settings, unplug the power of the Linksys router, connect it to the hub and it should be good to go.

Don't have internet connection

This particular 8-port Ethernet switch/hub has auto-negotiation on both speed as well as MDI, MDI-X.  Therefore, the problem is not with your switch/hub, it's probably with the particular port that you're connecting it to on your Router.  Make sure that it's the LAN side, not the WAN side.

Internet & xbox live sametime Netgear 8-port 10-base-t Ethernet Hub en108

Does the xbox work when connected directly to the internet (not through the hub)? If so, there may be some kind of conflict related to sharing your internet connection between the PC and xbox, and I'd reccommend getting a router instead of a hub.

Wont connect and software cd

To connect a router or a dsl modem to a switch you either have to use port 4 or use a utp crossover cable. As you can see on the Netgear FS605 the modem/router has to be connected to port 4.

The correct way to connect these devices is:

Modem > Router > Switch > Computers

Not able to connect to the internet

Please list the model of the network hub you are using.  Also is a "hub/switch" or a routher.  Also are you using a DSL or Cable internet connection?  Please provide a little more details.
