I have a Toro timecutter z4200. It starts and the engine runs fine, until either the blades are engaged, or the steering arms are moved out of "park." At that time, there is a loud click and the engine dies. I suspect it's got something to do with the safety cutoff switch under the seat, but am not sure. Suggestions please?
Mine was doing same thing. Changed safety switch, still had the same problem. I changed out the brake module and runs like a dream now!Mine was doing same thing. Changed safety switch, still had the same problem. I changed out the brake module and runs like a dream now!
I figured mine out. Each handle has a spring in front of it that connects when the arms are pulled back in reverse. One of these springs had popped loose and I believe it was grounding out the system. You may want to check that.I figured mine out. Did you disengage the brake. I sometimes forget to disengage the brake but when the engine starts to shut off i realize that I did not disengage the brake.
Make sure the drives are engaged. Under the seat and towards the rear are two thin metal levers with finger loops. These are used to disengage the drives in order to push the mower when the engine is off. Levers towards the back to engage. Good luck
clean the spark plug or even change it , when you store it you must run it out of gas which means shut the gas off so the gas does not turn into polish that clogs you carb , needle and seat etc ,
Did you drain the fuel before you put it away? If not then you should drain the fuel and clean the carb. Gas when in lawn mowers and any other small gas engine will turn into a slim in a way and will block the carb. Drain the fuel and clean the carb system will run great when that is done

I have changed my brake module 4 times now. I don't know what's going on.
