Regarding your recent inquiry about the Canon 240 (black) or 241 (color) ink cartridge ink alert/error condition and the inability to print to your Canon MX452 printer, to reset the cartridge ink low/empty alert message condition, depending on your printer model, we suggest you follow the documented procedures below and/or provided on Inkjet411 at the following link. http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1765

Essentially, in most cases, all you need to do is press the 'Stop/Reset' button (triangle symbol inside of a circle) for 5-8 seconds and the ink error ("ink has run out", etc.) indicators should extinguish; two common reset procedures are provided below (please refer to both videos): http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1765

Canon 30/31/40/41 - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2709
Canon 50/51 - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2719
Canon 210/210XL/211/211XL - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2728
Canon 240/240XL/240XXL/241/241XL - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2733
Canon 245/245XL/246/246XL - Refilled Cartridge Activation Instructions: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=2740

If you have already attempted the 5-8 second printer reset without success, then refer to WORST CASE SCENARIO section below.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

NOTE 1: Providing you can still print, you will need to wait until the "ink has run out" message appears on your computer, before activating the 'Stop/Resume' button for 5-8 seconds. However, if printing is not permissible, then please keep reading....

NOTE 2: If you are able to print the internal self test print, this will demonstrate that the ink cartridge is 'at least' partially functioning. If this is the case, then we suggest you continue printing until the software prompts you to press the 'Stop/Reset' button for >5 seconds. For poor print quality performance issues (as you indicated in your inquiry), we suggest you run a nozzle/cartridge clean test from your Canon software, followed by printing our 'Ink Recovery Test' print: http://inkjet411.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Test-Print_CMYK.pdf

NOTE: To rule out connectivity issues, please ensure BOTH carriage/flex cables (point where the cartridge connects to carriage inside the printer) and BOTH ink cartridge rear electrical contact surfaces are thoroughly clean before proceeding: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1519

      ---
WORST CASE SCENARIO - INTERNAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF INK CARTRIDGE:

If, after performing the suggested 'reset' procedures above, you still have an error condition which prohibits computer/host based printing (or permit copy/scan functions), then the ink cartridge probably has internal electrical damage (micro-electronics failure); such a failure is unrelated to the ink cartridge refilling process. Typically, when the cartridge fails the problem is 'masked' by the ink out/empty condition so it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures, especially after their original ink is gone and they are re-used, and this is often unrelated to the refill process (i.e. typically ~2 years from original manufacturing date). Refer to picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1533

If, following a reset of the printer via the 'Stop/Resume' button, printing is permitted but the 'Ink Low' indicator continues to be lit then one of the inks cartridges may be suffering from marginal internal electrical performance - a potential failure of the cartridge may eventually occur which will prevent printing.

      ---
CAUTION: Be advised, the use of Canon compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from overseas) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations which may contain volatile organic compounds, or VOCs). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of Canon original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested!

      ---

If you do need to purchase a new ink cartridge (to save on ink costs), we suggest you try a USA remanufactured ink cartridge from http://www.inkplicity.com/ as their ink cartridges typically have the lowest cost in the USA, have a high reliability rating and come with a 1-year warranty.

Alternatively, if you are interested in the top 'refill friendly inkjet printer models', our suggested list is posted on-line and our internal labs have verified there are no issues (in ink compatibility or color output) with all of these models: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=3585

Refilled ink cartrige still showing empty is their any way to reset printer

Regarding your HP Officjet Pro 8600 printer and refilled HP 950/951 ink cartridges and the "low ink" messages. Depending on your ink refiller (or if you did it yourself?), a replacement chip may or may not have been installed with the recently refilled cartridge(s). Refer to picture on our support site to first determine which type of cartridge configuration you have, then refer to the applicable section to address the current cartridge error(s) or printer issues.
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1999

NOTE: Costco USA's Ink Refill service now 'chips' all refilled ink cartridges which fully restores all functions to that of a regular HP (OEM) ink cartridge and customer experience. For USA ink refill store locations and details on ink refill pricing:

Costco USA Ink Refill Service (all 453+ stores): http://www.costcoinkjetrefill.com

Fry's Electronics Ink Refill Service (all 34 stores): http://www.frys.com/ads/page51

Micro Center Ink Refill Service: http://www.microcenter.com/site/content/refill-service.aspx

Refer to Section A if your refiller attached a new replacement chip (green in color) onto the cartridge. Refer to Section B if only the original HP chip is attached.

CAUTION: Be advised, the use of compatible/clone cartridges (i.e. sold thru the internet from China) are known to be problematic and may cause printer errors and/or permanent PRINTHEAD failures (due to incompatible ink formulations). We do NOT suggest refilling these types of ink cartridges.....refilling of original/genuine ink cartridges is only suggested! HP original/genuine ink cartridges can be identified by the visible HP logo on the front label of the cartridge.

Selphy cp780 continues to say ink cartridge empty even after installing new one. Tried 2 new ones to be certain it wasn't the cartridge, same thing...tells me ink cartridge empty install new.

try and reset your printer, unplug the power cord and wait 10 min, then plug back in,understand that Canon has installed a chip so you cannot use refilled cartridges,or cartridges you refill,if this doesn't work, then contact Canon, and you could get the same message I got take it in to be repaired, (to costly), so I end up buying a new one,,

Canon ip2700 after refill of Black cartridge ink status still shows 'low' and print is very poor - breaks, incomplete - as ink running out. How to reset ink level, or to disable warning, and to get print...

For your ip2700, even if you reset your refilled cartridge, they are not going to be usable.
After 4~5 times of color refill, you will see e5 error that cartridge is not readable anymore.

So you need to replace your cartridge with new one somehow.

If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK".
Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good.
For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video.
And will see how easy ink refill can be done.

I have an HP F4580 printer, and have just refilled both ink cartridges. However the printer won't allow me to print as it thinks the ink has gone. How can I reset my printer to display ink cartridge...

Often they have a chip mounted on the cartridge which monitors usage and when it determines that there is no ink remaining, it will disable the printer. Some companies sell compatible cartridges and reset the chip counter. But unless you reset the chip, even tho the cartridge is full of ink, the chip still disables the printer.

The printer continue to display yellow light for colour ink catridge even after refill

Each cartridge comes with a chip which indicates whether the cartridge is full or empty. By refilling the cartridge the chip cannot be reset. If you cannot get past this message on the printer you may need to buy a brand new cartridge that is not refilled.

Refilled my lexmark cartridges but still dont work

14 and 15 won't work after refill. You can only refill 14A and 15A.
But even when you refill those, the printer will keep telling you they are empty, which is normal, neither the printer nor the computer can know that you have refilled your cartridges. The devices see cartridges by their serial number, so it resets the counter only when you pop in a new cartridge. They are ways to bypass that by resetting the ink level: use clear tape over the left hand row of sensors on the front of the cartridge and re-insert it. The ink now shows with question mark but reads as full and prints fine. You actually "fool" the printer into thinking you have put a different cartridge. This works with some printers, so I am not 100% sure it will work with yours.

Dell a940 error code 50c

From doing my research, I have found that the 50C Error message comes from the cartridge, usually if it has been refilled. If this cartridge is new, please return it to the place of purchase for a new one or a refund.

Here's what happens when you refill the Dell Series 2 ink cartridges. There is a sensor in them that cannot be reset.

Dell ink cartridges can only be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's website.

Dell ink cartridges have a sensor that reports the ink level as low once it reaches a certain level. The sensor can not be reset. If you refill an ink cartridge that previously reported low ink, it may print fine, but the sensor will always report low ink. Buying or replacing ink cartridges with new Dell cartridges will resolve the low ink message.

Dell discourages ink refills. Refilling ink may lead to print quality problems, and even eventual hardware problems.

if u have not refilled ur cartridge and u still get this error i suggest u buy a new cartridge.....

good luck
have a nice day

Inkjet refills

hi,

as you are using a refilled cartridge, it is causing this problem. the thickness of ink in a hp genuine cartridge and a refilled cartridge varies. and also the refilled cartridge may make your printer faulty. so it is good to try with a new hp genuine ink cartridges.

thanks and regards
