Hi all, we are facing problems related to ZM400 and labels printing process. All labels printers are directly connected to SAP system with no host spools system between (connection type U - berkeley protocol). When we generate massive printouts (about 10 labels per second) printer close port 515 and drop network interface. It looks like is not able to process such amount of bar code labels. If we increase on board flash memory this new space will be used for more printouts? Is this possible to play with some printer settings to avoid this kind of printer/interface downtime? Changing of Connection Timeout Checking parameter gives no result.
Make sure you have no network traffic for your printer and decrease the printing speed, and make sure you are using a free port not a used and default port for the service..
Testimonial: "Thank you for a quick answer. Currently I'm trying to slow down printer speed on SAP system. At the moment important question that remains unanswered is: if we increase on board flesh memory it allow us to process more labels in one time? regards Marek Chochowski"
hello.. first thing you do is to check the printer speed on your sap system and set to as normal and configure the speed in the printer settings up to 10 labesl per second which is 254mm/sec, since it is the maximum speed of your printer. Your computer memory does nothing to do with this right after your computer sends the data to print, your printer will do as what its function. the memory can only be used in your computer and has nothing to do with your printer. best solution for this configure the printer settings in both and same configuration, from SAP SYSTEM and in your computer settings. be sure to be configured correctily. decrease the text-color for maximum speed,.

SOURCE: I was wondering what could
Not sure what coud cause this. Have any kind of windows updates possibly been allowed that has interferred with the printer protocol?
Here is the Zebra manual, and on page 124 they list things to try to check the communication, and you might run through those:
http://www.bluestarinc.com/techsupport/ZEBRA/Manuals/ZM400_600_UG.pdf
Not sure if it would help, but you might try a self test on the printers, just to insure they're ok. If that goes well, I would think there's some kind of a software conflict going on in the computers.
Wish I had more, but this is a tricky problem.
Good luck, and hope this helps.
SOURCE: Have A Zebra Z6M Plus 300dpi printer
Print configuration from both printers and compare. Print config- Hold cancel button 10 sec. while power on. Check Resolution parameter. 203dpi=8MM Full , 300dpi=12MM Full. Sounds like perhaps they are different dpi.
