No, a knock sensor will not keep an engine from cranking over. Have you checked the starter? Make sure that the starter solenoid is getting a signal when you turn the key to the start position.

What kind of knocking sound?
What kind of TV?
Some TVs have small fans inside them to keep them cool which can get noisy when old or if something has got into them.

It sounds like a push rod is knocking. Need to have it checked by a qualified mechanic. Check the oil level. It could be a major problem for you if you keep driving it without taking it to someone.

Knock sensor on 1998 gmc jimmy

it is located beside the crank pully. it controls the timing, a bad one will give you bad fuel mileage and could get a knocking sound when going up step hills. it keeps the engine from knocking by adjusting timing.

the knock sensor changes the timing of the motor when it senses knock ,it sounds like the wire may have come off ,it sounds as if when you press the gas the timing should advance and it sounds as if its not advancing thats why you are hearing a clattering noise on accelerating.if you keep driving it like that you can do engine damage

My water heater keeps making this knocking sound.

This sound is called "water hammer" yes it can hurt some pipes and valves in the house. It is caused by water pressure from the water co. being higher than normal, they have to raise pressure in areas to move water for new construction and what-not. The cure some times but not always is to install an "anti-hammer device on top of your hot water heater. a "water hammer arrester" is what they are called, cost about $11.oo and up. .

Knocking sound

maybe cv joints. check cv boots to see if torn or look out for grease marks in the area behind front wheel. This would be more clicking noise though and not banging.
