I own a 2003 Husqvarna yth2148 with no problems. There are 274 hours on it and I need to replace the front tires. Can you advise how to lift the tractor with no damage. Thank you, Mike Basconi

I would just use a floor jack on the front bumper if you have one on your model or on the front axel at the pivot point put a chunk of rubber or foam on the the jack so that it wont damage your machine put some blocks behind the tractor and rock and roll.

Primary v-belt , mower , on gth2548 keeps tearing/chunking out

Hi there,

I have a CTH2542 which has a 42" cutting deck. I bought this from new and it's now aprox 8 mths old. I observed slippage problems with the machine after about 3 months, and being a diesel mechanic myself, dropped the cutting deck off and checked the drive belt. It appeared to be an 'A' section belt which means it should be of 1/2" (12.7mm) section. Measurement revealed it had worn 1mm and was bottoming out on the drive pulley at the motor. Once any vee belt (or pulley for that matter) wears to this point it must be replaced as it WILL NOT grip the sheaves of the pulley. I had my local service agent look at it, but they say they could find nothing wrong. I investigated the problem further and to my surprise, I discovered the swinging (spring loaded) belt tensioner has been positioned on the loaded side of the vee belt. Therefore the more load that's placed on the drive, the more the tensioner is pushed aside, and the looser the drive belt becomes. I have re-jigged the drive setup on my machine (it was suprising easy once I'd figured out what to do). Now, if I **** the bull bar of the machine against my Ford tractor tyre, and load the hydraulic transmission, the rear wheels will actually spin - it wouldn't do that before. The reason I investigated this problem so thoroughly was because I went to buy a replacement vee belt for the machine and was told 'Husqvana tractors for some reason munch up standard vee belts - you must use the genuine belt which is kevlar based'
