I have a Sanyo DP50740. Had about 2 years. All of a sudden it started shutting off after turning on. Will not turn on again until unplugging and plugging back in. Then it shuts off again right away. Could you tell me the possible problems.

Main board fault. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" or "Magazine" will make surf easy. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device at its search box and press "Enter".

SOURCE: DEAD 42 INCH SANYO PLASMA, 13 MONTHS OLD

I am a military spouse and our same tv did the same thing on Super Bowl Sunday 2009! We did everything we know to do: call the company, called the repair man, etc. There apparently isn't a solution to this that wouldn't cost more than the tv is worth. So I got an attorney to start a class action:

SOURCE: 3 YEAR OLD SANYO DP 32746. SHUT ITSELF OFF, CAN NOT TURN BACK ON

If you leave the tv unplugged for 2 days (atleast) then plug it back in and try to turn it on and if it comes on its the power supply board. If it comes back on it will probably shut off between 30min to 4hrs and you would have to unplug it for 2 days again. All the power needs to drain out of the tv. If thats the case take the back pannel off and check the part number out on the internet. Not hard to do becarefull touching things the power supply does store a little bit or shock in it. Good Luck.

Testimonial: "while we did not unplug the set, we let it sit for 2 days and we were able to turn it on by the remote & manually....does that still sound like P/S"

SOURCE: My SANYO DP19649 TV shuts off on it's own and will

This would be consistant with the power board, Ether you got a bad eletrlytic capacitor that is not fully filling or a serious issue with the relay. Remeber its not on my bench so its hard to tell, I would start at the power supply you be glad you did :)

please do click the accept button for my efforts.

Same problem - tv shuts down

Sounds like you've got a problem alright, It's definitely heat related. I would suggest unplugging it and having it looked at by a professional.

I am an electronics tech and can tell you that you should not try to fix it yourself. There are voltages inside that tv that can literally throw you across a room and kill you instantly,

Also, I advise leaving it unplugged until it is looked at, A short can cause a fire.

TV turns on and then suddenly the screen will shut off but the power will remain on

there is a problem somewhere in the power supply or horizontal circut.
It will need a technition to troubleshoot this problem.

Tv turns off after 15 minutes of use

For bobby11 and luis, it is the power supply. Part Number EAY34797001 in the 42" and EAY34796801 in the 32". This is a known problem, and somebody should start a Class Action against LG over this one. Part is available online and easy to swap out for anyone with the most basic knowledge.
