I recently purchased a Hobart Mixer for a great price, than realized it was wired for 460v, would I be able to rewire it internally to run off 200/240v? If not what can I do to et it to work?
There is likely a nameplate with a wiring diagram inside. Without being familiar with the specific model, I can't tell you where. If you can find it, it will show both 460 and 230 volt configurations. Regardless, you will find inside the wiring box (where the conduit comes into the mixer) there are four wires corresponding to two windings - for 460 volts, the windings are wired in series. For 230 volts, they should be wired in parallel.

Hi. If the motor does not turn, the problem is electrical. Trace and test the electrical circuitry with the mixer unplugged. Start with the electrical plug and work your way through to the motor and switch connections. An electric motor technician should be called in if you are not familiar with electrical troubleshooting techniques. Good luck!.

You have killed it by overloading the bowl. Hobart recomends no more than 65% bowl capacity on doughs & 75% on batters or icings. Replace the motor or the whole unit
