Why hasn't my factory reset worked?

Because my screen was frozen, I used a factory reset for my MID M729B Android OS. However, there is no change. The screen comes up with accurate time and date but none of the functions work when I touch them. It also immediately powers off when I unplug it, even though it has been charged overnight. The battery indicator says it is charged.

Need the stock rom for a mid 729b?

Can you tell me where you got the upgraded rom from, and have you tried downloading the firmware from the manufacturer's website? http://www.archos.com/us/support/support_tech/updates_fwm.html

Forgot pattern to get in it

You will need to perform a factory reset.

- Turn off the device and wait 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the volume + button while powering on the device.
- Keep the volume + pressed until the Recovery mode starts (white screen).
- To move from one option to another, use the volume buttons. To select an option, press the ON/OFF button.

There should be an option to factory reset or erase your tablet.

Mid m729b will not shut down

A bit late but FWIW, I had this problem. I eventually just moved any data I needed to a safe place & fully reset it.
To reset, hold the power button & volume up button simultaneously. It should boot to a screen that tells you what to do next. I think they ask you to keep holding the power button for a reset. Do that & you'll see a big old 3D Android figure & a blue progress bar. Give it a minute & it should eventually load. After that I got a screen that said it was "updating" & gave me a percentage countdown. It finally booted like normal to factory settings. All of my data was gone but it now turns on/off like it should.
