SOURCE: I have this RCA remote and I misplaced the guidebook.

You must first find out why the remote control is not working properly. These remote controls have been having problems with new batteries. The battery holder on the positive side need to be adjusted out to make sure its making contact with the batteries. This may be the reason the remote control is not working. After you find the problem with the functioning of the remote control you can go to the RCA customer support website http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/voxrightnow.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1769&p_created=1209688350&p_sid=6-sdxLAj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9ODE4LDgxOCZwX3Byb2RzPTE1OCZwX2NhdHM9MCZwX3B2PTEuMTU4JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfbmwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1yY2Egc3lzdGVtIDUgcmVtb3RlIGNvbnRyb2w*&p_li=&p_topview=1 find the codes for the components you want to use with the remote control. Use the codes to make the remote operational . This should be all you have to, if the remote control is working properly. If you cannot get the remote control to work properly, you can call the RCA customer support at this telephone number 1-800-645-4994. Give them the model number of the remote control and ask them for assistance with the problem. I hope this information help you with the problem you are having with your remote control. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

I have 2 remotes to my RCA LED52B45RQ tv. both are RCA remotes and we are having the same problem with both... they randomly stop working (nothing works). power button lights but nothing happens.

You may have a stuck button and not know it. look at the led end of the remote with the camera on your cell phone. If you have a stuck button you will see the led flashing. If it isn't flashing. push a button to see the led flash. Keep pushing different buttons to see if the led will flash without holding a button down. If you push a button and the led doesn't flash, it can be worn carbon button or the ic in the remote is failing If this test procedure does not find why the remotes die. you may want to invest in a a remote that will never become obsolete or worry about codes to operate more devices. It's called a Harmony remote. It's awesome. Logitech Harmony universal home theater remote and app

DVD Recorder TT 1620 The remote quit working. I changed battery sill nothing. Can I order a new remote or is this a contact problem with the battery?

Battery contact, broken wires, desoldered led emitter or other component on the circuit board, leads on the circuit board damaged by battery leakage, dirty contacts on keypad and/or on circuit board (only if just some of the buttons don't work).

Listed above are some possible reasons, could also be a fault in the infrared receiver section on the dvd unit, you can test if the remote is flashing by looking at the emitter (front end) through a cell phone camera while pressing the buttons on the remote - if it works you will see a led flashing inside the remote.

FAULTY REMOTE

With this problem I took off the protective cover off of the receiver and used compressed air to clean out the receiver. I then located the electrical board that was connected to the remote sensor. I noticed that there were three groups of wiress coming from the front of the electrical board. I twisted those wires around and noticed that a very small part of one of those wires were exposed and touching the board itself. I placed electrical tape around the exposed wire and tested the volume again and problem was solved! now I can use my remove with no problems!

Viewsonic remote RC00070P

Okay here's the fix.
Remove batteries. Re-install them wrong side in! Don't panic.
Reverse the direction of both the battery cells and install. Press "Power" button a couple of times and a few other buttons a few times. Then remove batteries and re-install the right side in.
Voila.

Cleaning the PC board in an RCA universal remote control

Cleaning will help only for removing dirt. I think in your case, the contacts in the circuit board and the rubber pad is damaged with heavy use. So use CARBON INK to recreate the contacts in the circuit board. Also use carbon dots(Available in sticker form) in rubber pad.
I think, this will fix your problem
