No you don't just add freon and expect everything to be fine .if your system is low on freon then you have a leak so that needs to be fixed first .try cleaning you condenser coil and make sure both evaporator and condenser fan is running

These type of refrigerators can not be simply recharged as there is ammonia inside and not freon.

There should be a decal under the hood showing type of refrigerant and capacity for the system.

if you find an oily substance its most likely freon. this looks pretty new so i would say you have a bad soldered joint on a copper to steel line. theses usually ar fot the high side. where the condensor coil or loop runs either to underref or up in the ref walls

I would think your RV repairman could add refrigerant. Any heat and air company could do this for you. The unit does not have service valves in it and a port will need to be added. I have seen these units 30 years old and still holding the original charge. It is impossible to say how long it will last. If you need to add refrigerant more than once a year you have a serious leak that needs repaired.

Sounds like you need to recharge system with freon. Hope this helps :>)

it should never have to be recharged unless there is a leak. so you should isolate the leak with dye injectable into the system w/ the freon and correct it, then fully recharge system.
