One solution would be to go to the manufacturers site and make sure you have the latest firmware update. If your floppy doesn't work, then apparently you are aware of this, and your floppy drive is defective, correct? Moving on then, you can also use a flash drive which are pretty inexpensive right now. It will plug right into your USB port. Another means of getting it into your laptop is to send it to yourself email. Now, if you cannot get passed the need for this to on floppy, then you simply need to get a new floppy drive.

Now, assuming you do indeed have the latest firmware loaded, the problem is the fact of this drive being a bit inferior. It is a dust magnet. Installed in a laptop, it picks up any and every bit of dust that so happens to venture thru.
Solution :. I took the DVD/CD-Rom out, removed the alluminium plate that is held on with 3 little screws and inspected it. I found alittle dust on the DIVERTER(?) mirror/lens. I blew if off, cleaned the primary lens. I reassembled it, put it back in the laptop and now it works fine on ALL CD's. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN CLEANING THE PRIMARY LENS. BE VERY GENTLE. If this fixes your problem and if you can Please pass this on. It saved me ALOT of money. Almost forgot, the ERROR Message that I would get, before I fixed it was "WINDOWS CANNOT READ FROM DISK.THE DISK MIGHT BE CORRUPTED OR IT COULD BE USING A FORMAT THAT IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH WINDOWS. I hope this fixed your problem.

Does the toshiba sd 2502 , can it burn cds

It is a DVD ROM drive which stands for DVD Read Only Memory. In other words, this drive is meant to only PLAY DVDs and CDs but NOT save data to them.

To burn CDs you need a CD burner. Burners are of 3 types:

CD writer only burns and reads CDs.

Combo drive reads CDs and DVDs but only burns CDs.

Super drive burns and reads from CDs and DVDs.

As you go higher in functionality, the price also increases. Check your needs before you plan to buy one. Also compare prices of all the drives. Note: burn-able media costs are separate.

Same problem (dvd drive deceased, not functioning at all)

You were not at all clear here as to what your specific problem is. If it is the same as the majority reported for model SD-C2502, then you're having a problem with the drive not being able to see data disks, dvd disks, or both. One solution would be to go to the manufacturers site and make sure you have the latest firmware update. Now, assuming you have it, the problem is the fact of this drive being a bit inferior. It is a dust magnet. Installed in a laptop, it picks up any and every bit of dust that so happens to venture thru.
Solution The problem I had was that my DVD/CD-ROM, a SD-C2502,
would only play DVD's, same as yours. Data disks and Audio disks
would not be recognized by Windows. After I reinstalled my pc, the toshiba dvd-rom (sd-c2502) only plays cds, not dvds.

Try re-installing your the driver for your dvd rom. Then try to put different dvds and check if it can read from your drive. If problem remains, I suspected it's your dvd rom is faulty

Problem DVD

A little more information would help. Toshiba models seem to have an issue with playing DVD's but the cause could be one of several things. What software program do you have to play DVD's? Is this a new problem or has it always been this way? Do you have the most recent Windows updates?

Cannot read

I think your drive is old and full of dust inside or it may be nearing its end. Get some servicing.
