SOURCE: Shadow on printed page

You either have a bad toner cartridge or bad fuser. Measure the distance from and exact on image printered to the exact same spot on the page it appears again. If it's fuser it will be 41.0mm between image and defect. Any other spacing on the front of the page is usually cartridge.

Try replacing the cartridge first and if that doesnt fix the issue it's fuser.

Here's a link for the service manual. Look at page 117 to get a complete list on repetative defects and their causes.

Hope that helps you.

SOURCE: colors do not match up

Have you tried a few alignments? Also you can try turning the printer on and when you start hearing the alignment turn the printer off ... do this a few times and see if this helps.
Also you can try to manually align the cartridges.. to do this turn the printer off. Open the front cover to reveal the cartridges. On the right hand side you can see some gears. Try to turn one of these slightly.. one click (1mm) should do it. Now turn the printer on and let it align itself

SOURCE: printer output has shadows, blurring, streaks, lines, poor color

Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).

I might have an idea why this is happening....The print cartridges might need cleaning...
Follow the steps below to do this....

Step one: Remove the black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge

NOTE:
The black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge is in the right side of the carriage. -Lower the cover of the product.
-If the print cartridge status light flashes, proceed to Step two: Replace the print cartridge.
If the print cartridge status light is off, proceed to Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge.
Step two: Replace the black, photo print cartridge, or the gray photo print cartridge and remove the tri-color print cartridge
- Remove plastic tape from new ink carttridge CAUTION:
Do not touch the print cartridge ink nozzles or copper contacts. Touching these parts will result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections. Do not remove the copper electrical contacts.

NOTE:
The tri-color print cartridge is in the left side of the carriage.
-Lower the cover of the product. -If the print cartridge status light stops flashing, proceed to Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge.
If the print cartridge status light still flashes, replace the tri-color print cartridge. If the issue continues, service the product.

Step three: Manually clean the print cartridge
1. Gather the following items to clean the print cartridge and carriage:
o Clean distilled water. Use bottled or filtered water if distilled water is not available. Tap water can contain contaminants that damage the cartridge.
o Clean cotton swabs or any soft, lint-free material that will not stick to the cartridges (coffee filters work well).
o Sheets of paper or a paper towel to rest the cartridges on during cleaning.
2. Open the product cover, and wait until the carriage stops moving.
3. Remove the print cartridge, and place it on a piece of paper with the nozzle plate facing up.

NOTE:
Clean the contacts quickly so that the print cartridge is not outside of the product for more than 30 minutes. If the cartridge is outside of the product for too long, the ink can dry and clog the nozzles.
4. Unplug the product.
5. Dip a swab in the clean water, and then squeeze it to remove most of the moisture. The swab should be only slightly damp.
6. Clean the print cartridge contacts. Do not touch the nozzles.
7. Clean the contacts in the carriage, inside the product.8. Either let the print cartridge sit for ten minutes to allow the cleaned area to dry, or use a new swab to dry it.
9. Reinstall the print cartridge.
10. Plug the product back in.
11. Close the product cover.

Good Luck!
If there is anything more I can do for you please let me know if not and the problem is solved please rate it, Thanks, JCE

Laser printers / Ink Jet printers the difference

Depending upon what you are printing and how you want it to look. Also cost is a factor. We sell new and used printers at our storefront. If you are printing items you do not want to smear if they get wet - Go laser. If you are printing photos on photo paper - Go ink. Some people fail to tell you when selling a color laser jet printer that when you are are printing just black, you are also using each of the colors a little. Toner is the lubricant that keeps the drums from squeaking on the blade as the drum inside the cartridge turns. The buildup of excess toner in the waste container may cause the cartridge to fail though you have only used a little in the cartridge. Laser and Led printing black only is the most efficient way to print. We don't usually recommend color laser printers unless that is all you are going to print are full color documents. Color can be expensive. Inkjet is more expensive to only print black with. While if printing color, it is less expensive than laser. If you need more information please ask!

When printing not all the colors are displaying. Also, printing a document the printer prints every other line. Any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

The color printer might not print in color due to dirt and other unwanted particles present in the printer. Due to this unwanted particles, the ink used for printing and other materials might become blocked inside the printer device and this might lead to some printing issues. In order to resolve this issue, regular cleaning of the printer is necessary.

Cartridge light blinks

Try cleaning the print head first in the software options on the printer and then lightly with a qtip and alcohol or electronics cleaner. The ink jets sometimes dry up and cause the nozzels to get plugged.

Epson 1400 Printing Orange colors Green

The problem can be two fold. Wrong cartridges, or blocked/damaged inkjet openings. Return it to the seller under warranty if its brand new. If it was fitted with non epson cartridges your warranty may be in question.

But I could almost guarantee the black qand the blue cartridges are faulty or their feed jets are

Printing without color?

Im sorry to inform but yes, Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.
