SOURCE: bose 321 system reads bad disc on all dvds

if will not read a laser lens cleaning disc , then it will need to be opened up and the laser lens will need to be cleaned manually with the cleaning solution and a cotton tip , but do it easy and dry the lens with the cotton tip
if that don't do it then the laser mechanism will need replacing

DVD player not working!

The player uses a laser to check for a DVD. If the laser fails, the player acts like there is no DVD loaded and opens the disc tray so a DVD can be inserted. Sounds like a bad laser.

My Samsung DVD Recorder rejects my blank DVD disc after having used it 2 years without any problem. What is causing this?

Hi, I think I have the answer. Try putting in a different type of disc, start with going to a simpler format of disc-if yoou were using dvd r/w +- for example then go to plain dvd r. If you were using dvd r's-then try putting in a data disc ( cd-r ) and try recording a song. I you can record in a simpler format I'd have to say that your samsung's probably reached the end of it's life cycle and is just plain getting weak. I'm sorry I didn't have better news. You may try a " LENS CLEANING " dvd also-as there have been cases of actual dirt being a culprit. I hope this was helpful, please comment though, Thanks and good luck , Prodzilla

Hi, I have tried to save home movies made through a software program onto Maxell DVD-R's and DVD-RW's. A few from the packs I purchased worked fine, most were rejected by the computer and I'm advised to...

There are several reasons why it may not work:
  1. The read head of the drive is dirty. (probably this if the drive is used very frequently and is a few years old.)
  2. Are the manufacturer-provided drivers for your disc drive (if there are any) installed?
  3. Is the IDE/SATA cable on the back of the drive loose?
  4. Were the discs stored in a hot car?
  5. Was the disc packaging beat-up?
  6. You may just have a batch of bad discs.
These type of things can be a PITA to troubleshoot. I'd say your best bet is to first try a different software program, then a different brand of discs, then buy a cheap laser cleaning kit.

My DVD player willnot play commercial disc. It says no disc, bad disc,or no disc found. It is rejecting every disc I put in.

It is possible that the optical lens on you dvd player is dirty or worse it has gone bad. There are discs that are made to clean the lens. Here is an example : http://amzn.to/8Y4qSe

Sony DVP-NC600, CD/DVD Player

Hey llacy2,

There may actually be a number of reasons that this may be occuring, and there are a couple of things that you can try in order to resolve this type of problem.

You may wish to first clean the discs being placed in the DVD tray with a soft cloth. Any kind of dirt, scratches or cracks on the disc may cause the unit to immediately reject it. Once the disc has been cleaned, try to insert it again. If the disc is rejected a second time, you may need to try a different title.

If the problem still persists with more than one disc, the manufacturer has suggested both turning the DVD player off and fully unplugging the player (power cord, other connections and all). You may wish to allow at least 1 full minute before reconnecting the player and AC adaptor, but if the problem isn't resolved after doing so you may need to contact a repair facilty for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
