you are right replace the compressor/fan capacitor this helps compressor/ fan start its the round silver or oval part in the condensor ..let me know ..good luck/joe/

Hi, you should have a error chart on one of the panels of the unit that will tell you what the 5 blinks mean. It will be pasted on the unit inside some where. Let me know what you find and we will go from there. Merry Christmas,

If you have a good model number for the unit in question you should be able to contact carrier themselves or google the manufacture and download it if they offer it but more than likely you will have to contact the manufacture for assistance. The number is 1-800-CARRIER
