Error code 94:01 is an internal memory error. If you still get the error after reformatting the card or trying a different one, it's an electronic issue usually used by component failure and requires replacement of a circuit board within the camera.

SOURCE: Format Error in Sony Cybershot

i think this problem arises when you fail to regularly format the card ie. take lots of pictures and delete some and repeat the process over and over instead of downloading every session and formatting the card causing coruption. Also if you've bought pro duo memory stick off ebay poss. its a very good forgery (again i've been caught out by this).

SOURCE: Sony Alpha 100 gives error message when attempting to take pic.

Hi! I just had the same problem with my Sony A100, when I tried two different CF cards. I was getting the same error message as reported above: "Unable to use card" then "Format?" then that format fails. Thinking the camera is broken, I checked online camera repair sites and also called Sony directly. Sony's flat rate, and that of PrecisionCamera is $228 to fix CF card failure. Then my daughter said, "the CF card in my room works fine in the camera" - and lo and behold - it does. The CF card that works is brand PQI and is marked Hi-Speed 60 2Gb. The cards that do NOT work are marked SanDisk Ultra II 1.0Gb and SanDisk 128 Mb. So my advice is, before you give up on the camera as broken, try a number of different CF cards first.

The second cause of CF failure is if someone has pushed a CF card in the wrong way. That can bend one or more of the tiny metal contact pins in the CF socket in the camera. Look carefully to see that all the pins are straight up. [I don't know how one can straighten these pins, or if the whole socket would need to be replaced...but at least you can determine the cause of the CF failure.]

Best regards - Michael

SOURCE: "No memory space on internal memory"

Go into the setup menu and scroll to "setup" and follow the on-screen instructions. You may also want to format the internal memory with your memory card out of the camera.

Transfer/Edit Sony HDR-TG3 1080i AVCHD Videos on Windows/Mac

Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E is a super small camera with full HD recording on Memory Stick in 2008. It includes 4GB and 10x optical zoom for capturing 1920x1080 and 1440x1080 videos. However, this camera does not include progressive recording mode, which indicates that the HD videos are 1080i. Even though it is compact camera, the audio is recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1ch. You can also take 2.3Mp stills while you are recording video footage.
Sony HDR-TG3E features:
- 1920x1080i HD video recording
- 4 megapixel still photo recording
- Dual Rec simultaneous 2.3 megapixel still photo during video recording
- Handy face detection
- Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens
- ClearVid CMOS Sensor and Exmor derived technology
Videos from Sony HDR-TG3E:
Movie Format:
- High Definition: AVCHD (1920 x 1080, 1440 x 1080) in .mts filename extension
- Standard Definition: MPEG2 in .mpg filename extension
Movie Quality:
- HD: FH (1920x1080i, 16Mbps) / HQ (9Mbps) / SP (7Mbps) / LP (5Mbps)
- SD: HQ (9Mbps) / SP (6Mbps) / LP (3Mbps)

Transfer & Edit Sony HDR-TG3 AVCHD videos:
For Windows users:
Install the Picture Motion Browser (PMB) from the bundled CD in box, and connect Sony HDR TG3 to PC via USB cable. Use Sony PMB to download HD .mts videos from camcorder to PC.
For Mac users:
You can capture and transfer Sony HDR-TG3 1080i videos to iMac/MacBook Pro via iMovie after connecting camera to computer with USB cable. However, you may face problem when trying to log and transfer AVCHD videos from Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E to Final Cut Express (FCE) 4 or Final Cut Pro (FCP) 5. After transferring HD .mts videos from camera to computer hard drive, just run Aunsoft MTS/M2TS Converter for Mac as the Mac Sony HDR-TG3 MTS converter to deinterlace .mts videos and convert .mts to .mov for FCE and FCP, if you want to edit HD videos.
Alternative way to transfer HDR TG3 videos for Mac and PC:
Just connect HDR TG3 pocket camera to computer via the USB cable, and the HDR TG3 will display as a hard drive on computer. Navigate to the HDR TG3 hard drive to access the memory stick.
Tips: Sony Handycam HDR-TG3E is the model for Europe, and Sony Handycam HDR-TG1 is the model for US.

Hi luismasramir ,

Seems to be the case where the battery is not fully recharged , Please follow the below steps :-

  1. Please make sure that you charge your battery fully , till the time you see an indicator for the battery being fully charged , or may be you see an icon in the display screen with the charge status.
  2. As far the 6.30 hr duration that you have mentioned, this duration reflects the time that you have left for total recording space on your disk or memory card depending on your current source for recording.
  3. The above duration is not to be confused with the battery usage time.
Hope his helps ...:)

I have a Sony HDR-SR1 with video on the hard drive. When I connect it to my iMac via as USB cable, I can see the camera on my desktop, but can't seem to import anything via IMovie. What am I doing...

It is a Hard Disk type Camcorder. Follow the steps as mentioned on the Link given below to transfer the video from the Camcorder to a Mac Computer.

NOTE: Movie player applications must support MPEG-2 for standard-definition video or AVCHD for high-definition video to open and play these files. Refer to the software manufacturer of the movie player application you are using for additional information and any available updates.

The Apple Macintosh Web site offers MPEG2 Works 4 Advanced 4.2 for download.

The Apple Macintosh Web site has an MPEG-2 Playback component for Quicktime 6 or 7 available for purchase.

Troubleshooting information about importing MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 clips with Apple iMovie software is available on the Apple Macintosh Web site.

For the Apple Mac OS X operating system, DVD authoring software (Capty DVD/VCD 2 ) and MPEG editing software (Capty MPEG Edit EX) is available for purchase from the PIXELA Web site. These applications are for standard-definition video only.

Sony hdr-cx7 image jitters when the cam gets hot

one fix is turning off steadyshot then try putting the camcorder upright(the lens pointing up) for few second until you see the video stabilize, then use as normal but the camcorder will jitter again if handle it roughly. This is just a workaround, i still dont know why it happens, need to send it for repair soon.
