My 17" flat panel monitor died for no apparent reason. It won't turn on. I've tried plugging it into different outlets, but there is no sign of life...no lights on the display or anything. It was originally plugged into my surge protector. Do you know what could be wrong with it??? Is it an electrical problem? What should I do?
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
I had the same problem i bought two of those exact same monitors, and both died at the same time because the were in the same room, the temperture in the room was to hot and the monitors stayed on all day also very humid it was a small secluded room, the solution is a bit simple if you are up for the work. if your not tech savvy then maybe you can take to to someone and ask them to repair it for you the problem is that the capicitors on the powersupply board erupt bad capacitors due to the heat or most likely the humidity so all you need to do is replace the capcitors which cost about 55 cents you can buy it here https://www.electronix.com the exact one would be the 470 uf 125v capacitors there are about 6 of them on the board and not all of them died for me i only had to replace 3 and you should be good to go. you can email me if your in NYC and you want someone to do it for you my fee is $100 for my time

The first step is to check the fuse on the power supply board. Next, disconnect the inverter board to eliminate the possibility of it shorting down the main and or power boards. Be careful as the inverter board supplies high voltage to the cold cathode tubes (backlights) and it bites HARD. If you disconnect the inverter and the power led comes up then replace the inverter board. (The screen will appear blank because you have no backlighting). If the power indicator still fails to light you need to suspect the main board first before the powwer supply board. The main board tells the power supply board to come on. You need to check the trigger from the main board to the relays on the power supply board. Also check the power connector to the main board because you should see +12V and/or +5V on at least some of the pins. If no power on the relay triggers then replace logic board. Then replace Power supply board last. Or buy a new monitor!!
Make sure the power connector is plugged in tightly in the back of the monitor and also make sure it is getting a vide signal.

If there is no power at all then it is either the power cable or the power supply board inside the monitor.
The part must be tested before replacement.

I just checked to make sure the power connector was plugged in tightly in the back of the monitor, but it still didn't come on. And what exactly is a vide signal and how can a check for that?
Thank you for your input and suggestions.
I have the same problem, i was doing some homework and then darkness. I tried to reboot and that didn't work. Nothing is working on it, i hit the power button and it won't even power up. I have a Dell 19" ultrasharp. Any suggestions? I tried the obvious, check plug, things like that.
We bought this monitor April 2005 and it just quit this week. The power light comes on but the image on monitor goes out after 1 second. Not sure what to do?
Booted up my computer, at the office, it turned on but the monitor is dead. I
installed another flat panel monitor and the desktop appeared but I have
programs that run in the background and they will not drop down to the task
bar. It may be better to buy a new monitor. How do I install a new monitor if I can't see the desktop?
