Perhaps you just use a cable like this:

How do I connect my Ipod classic to my onkyo tx-sr - 24806182-o2xiqwfhpbqb50rejnrszwmj-1-0.png use the tulip plugs and plug them into the AUX of the amplifier. Then at least you can play the music via the receiver.

SOURCE: Unsure of audio setting using Onkyo TX-SR606 connected to PS3

The PS3 should default to the DOLBY DIGITAL sound output so your ONKYO should be setup to the Digital input, TV logic is a matrix similated multi-channel and I doubt if any PS software is in the DTS audio format, look at your game software disc`s and they will inform you of the audio capabilities.

SOURCE: HDMI only for video and sound through regular audio input

DVI does NOT support sound unlike HDMI. Hopefully your PC has a Co-axial S/PDIF digital output. If not you might want to spend the $50 and buy a nice one from Creative. Modern motherboards are even coming with HDMI built-in but that's NOT your situation. I use a 15" DVI to HDMI cable but you are probably using an adapter and the a regular HDMI cable. Get co-axial digital audio cable of the right length and connect it to the co-axial inputs (they're in the upper corner). Use the remote's set-up button and select the "Digital Input" option. This is very powerful. You can assign any of the Optical or Co-axial inputs to any associated device.

I have my PC as Video 3 with sound coming in via HDMI which I assign under the "HDMI Video" menu and sound under the "Digital Input" as "Coax1". I use "Coax2" for the DVD player that lacks an optical output. If you use regular analog you are screwed as you found out. I usually use the headphone jack and an extension cable with the Computer and watch on it's monitor.

All HDTV sets are **** compared to a decent computer monitor. The deliver MUCH clearer video and much higher resolutions that shitty the 1080 HDTV maxes out at. ATSC is **** compared to a PC. Grated, cable is junk compared to ATSC at 1080i but that's another story. Yet, comparing ATSC to a computer is like comparing NTSC or digital cables' crappy 480i with ATSC at 1080i. It that much greater. At least 720p is wide screened unlike 480i garbage that's most of Comcast's "HD" digital junk.

SOURCE: 1080P video via HDMI generates awful interference

Your Plasma's native resolution is 720P. Go into the Blu Ray's output setup. you can choose 480p 480i 720p 1080i and 1080p. Set it for 720p that should clear up the issue.You may have to run Component directly to the TV since you only have 1 HDMI input and you can run Digital coax or optical to your AV receiver for audio. On a 50" TV the difference between 720p and 1080p using "GOOD" cables cannot be seen by the human eye. Above 50, yes it is noticeable.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Can I play my ipod through my Onkyo TX-SR600 receiver?

All you have to do is get a 3.5mm plug to two RCA plugs lead and plug the 3.5 Jack in the headphone socket of your ipod and the two RCA's into an aux imput and away you go. If you get one of the small docks, that will stop the battery running down, but you don't need one.
By the look of the picture on FixYa it looks the RCA's can go in the front socket under the volume control.

Bose Cinemateonnect

Hi lechap,

With the indulgence of IB4G2008 as per his last post Feb 13.....

If I figure your concerns right, they are:
1. You have an iPod on an Onkyo IPod dock that you want to connect to an Onkyo receiver TX-302;
2. You have an Onkyo receiver TX-302 that you want to power a set of Bose Cinemate speakers;
3. the connectors on some do not fit or are not the same;
4. you want to know what goes to where.

If I may suggest:
a. connect the L/R Audio Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the L/R Audio IN of VIDEO 1 using a pair of RCA to RCA cable. Connect the S Video Out of the Onkyo IPod dock to the Video IN of VIDEO 1 using an S Video to RCA Video cable. Thereafter if you want to watch a movie or play music from your iPod, you need to choose Video 1 in the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You can of course choose any other VIDEO 1~3;572fcdc.jpg34ab5d3.jpg

d21fa99.jpg
b. all other source/devices may be connected similarly using the same scheme on any of the free VIDEO / AUDIO inputs
c. of course the MONITOR OUT goes to your TV or projector.

With respect to the Bose Cinemate, it would not be technically correct to connect the Bose Cinemate speakers straight to the speaker out of the Onkyo receiver TX-302. You need to install another set of speakers to the speaker outs of the Onkyo receiver. The Bose Cinamate system's TV AUDIO could be connected to the TAPE OUT (or the AUDIO L/R OUT of VIDEO 1)

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Wire Kenwood GE 7030 equilizer to onkyo tx sr504 receiver

The manuals explain it.

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Onkyo-TX-SR504-Receivers-manual/id/365ag215/t/2/

For all practical purposes an EQ or any analog audio processor connects exactly like a Tape Deck - into any RCA pairing that has both an OUT and an IN and can be selected to be in or out of the audio path.

However, on this and just about any modern digital-capable AV Receiver, activation of any external loop that would connect a processor or tape deck would automatically DISable any digital audio sources. The effects of the processor, therefore, can only be used with analog stereo sources. It WILL affect the sound going to all speakers if you use the various Digital Sound Porcessing modes as the extra channels are derived from the stereo channels anyway.
