Why does my kenmore 40318 front load washer keep shutting off for no reason an won't start

Is lid locking? Is it getting water? Are water hoses hooked up hot to hot and cold to cold? Is drain pump obstructed?

I could not find the sequence but found a couple of troubleshooting sites.

Hi, Could be the door switch, make sure the door is shutting completly then try to start.

your door switch is the problem,where the door latch goes into the machine a little switch sites behind this a safety feature and if this is broke the machine will still switch on but will not work it will need replaced they are cheap.adrianxxx

remove top replace fill valve left rear be sure not to remove the screens inside valve except to clean but be sure to reinstall or trash may get into valve and not allow proper shutoff

look for an error code on those washer it will be and f-02 something like that or HF FH it will have an f keep an eye out for that
