How do you keep the reciever from Overheating

The VIP722 always runs hot. A build up of dust can restrict air flow and cause overheating. When I had the VIP722, I had a small USB powered fan at the left-rear corner of the box to force cooling. I switched to a Hopper 3 and found the external cooling was not necessary. Hopper 3 has 16 tuners, so you never have conflicts.

How to keep Dish Remote from truning of Dish reciever when turning off TV

r_pettit,

I can definitely assist you with this. What button do you press when you turn off the TV? Have you tried pressing 'SAT' then the big red 'Power' button on the remote?

I have dish network and they tell me that if I put my dvr recording's on an external hard drive I can only playback on dish network reciever, but they mentioned netgear and did not explain?

FYI...just know that when you get NETGEAR product...DISH no longer is responsible for the activation and troubleshooting...and NETGEAR starting activation is 40.00 and they keeping adding money for any further problems..till you get to 200.00 whole house

Receiver taking a long time to transmit reciever

I assume that the HDMI works fine if you go directly from the dish receiver to the TV with either HDMI cable. And try it with a different source (DVD or x-box) in the same input port.

Take it to a Radio Shack there service centers can repair Onkyo in warranty. Most Onkyo receivers carry a two year warranty.

Cannot get signal

Your question is posted in a refrigeration section.
Try replacing the LNB, which is the device your cable(s) connect to at the dish.

Dish network vs. on screen problem

This surely is not a problem? The TV is simply indicating what channel it is recieving signals from. But in most TVs, to remove this On Screen Display, just deactivate by pressing 'Display' or 'OSD' on the Tvs Remote, as well as on the Remote of the Dish Tv reciever.
