Change the order so that the CD boots first. Try to run Repair from the Windows CD. If unsuccessful, you'll need to reinstall Windows.

Emachine password reset

  • Is this a Tower or Laptop computer >???????
  • Which operating system>??????
  • EMachines laptops run the Microsoft Windows operating system.
Therefore, if you want to change the password you have set on your laptop, there is nothing specific you need to do with the laptop itself.

Rather, the change simply needs to be made with the Windows operating system.
Changing your password from time to time is a good idea if the laptop is in a location where others can easily access it.

    Turn on your eMachines computer.

Press the "F8" key as your computer starts up. A screen called the "Windows Advanced Boot Options" menu will appear on your monitor.

    Highlight "Safe Mode."
Tap "Enter" to start your computer in Safe Mode. Click "Start" and type "lusrmgr.msc" into the "Search" box.

    Press "Enter."
Click "Local Users and Groups," then click "Users."

Right-click the account for which you are resetting the password and choose "Set Password."
Type the new password, then type it again to confirm it.

    Click "OK."

It is possible for the Windows operating system on your eMachines computer to have a critical failure. If the operating system on your eMachines computer is failing, you can use your recovery discs to restore your computer. Recovery discs come with your purchase of an eMachine, and contain your operating system and all your basic drivers. You can recover your eMachines W series in about an hour.

Turn off your computer and press "F8" to enter the BIOS menu. Tab over to the "Boot Sequence" or "Boot Order" menu. Move your optical drive to the top of the list. Press "F11" to exit and save changes. Insert your recovery disc into your optical drive, then restart your computer. Press any key to boot from disc. Select the "Full Recovery" option from your recovery disc menu. Allow the recovery procedure to complete. Hope this helps.

How do i reset my emachines w3653 to factory settings without the cd

  1. Turn off the computer. If the computer is in a state that it can be properly shut down, follow the normal shutdown process. On the other hand, if the computer is not reacting to anything, simply pull the cord from the wall.
  2. Restart the computer. Plug the computer back into the wall and press the "Power" button. Wait for the eMachine's computer to reach the screen that reads "Press F11 to start recovery." Once this screen appears, press the F11 key on the keyboard multiple times to make sure that it registers. If the recovery screen does not come up, you will need to turn the computer off and back on again and attempt to press the F11 button again when the prompt appears.
  3. Select the proper option. After the F11 key is properly selected and the recovery screen appears, there will be a list of recovery options. Scroll to the option that says: "Full System Restore (with Backup). Choosing this option will move all of the contents of the Hard Disk to the C:\My Backup file. This will ensure that important files that have been created on the computer will not be deleted. However, the applications on the computer will need to be reinstalled.
  4. Allow the Full System Restore to run its course. Depending on the age and effectiveness of the eMachine computer, it is possible this process could take up to 45 minutes. When the system restore is complete, the computer will restart itself. The startup could also take a while due to the fact that it will be restarting in Safe Mode.
  5. Reinstall applications. Any of the files created on the computer should be saved. However, the applications that created them need to be reinstalled. This means that applications like Microsoft Office or Adobe software will need to be reinstalled from disks or online before you can open files created with Microsoft or Adobe programs.

Hope this helps!

Emachine total black , this are on fan

LED lights are on? Fans spin? I suggest you have a bad Power Supply.

1) eMachines are noted to have low quality Power Supply's.
Saves eMachines money so they can sell budget computers.

2) A bad Power Supply is one of the leading causes of computer failure. I have, (Had actually), a shop half full of computers with this 'ailment'.

Some caused by the owners never cleaned out the inside of their computer, nor the inside of the Power Supply, with a can of compressed air for computers on a regular basis as needed.

3 to 5 years without cleaning the inside of their computer.
Mice could have made nests inside easily, with the 'Gunk' that was there. A bald eagle could have too. Rant off.

Others, caused by the computer manufacturer used a low quality Power Supply.
Low quality components used inside.
One of the major components that fails, is caused by a particular Electrolytic Capacitor that is used.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

3) Power Supply's used in PC's are a type of SMPS.
(Personal Computer. Statement holds true no matter what type of personal computer it is)

[ SMPS = Switched-Mode Power Supply
PSU = Power Supply Unit
All terms relate to a Power Supply used in a PC ]

A bad Power Supply will have a weak voltage power rail.
There are three major power rails used in the ATX form factor Power Supply, for an eMachines T6420 desktop computer.

A) The 3.3 Volt power rail (DC)
B) The 5 Volt power rail (DC)
C) The 12 Volt power rail (DC)

(Two D cell flashlight batteries produce 3 Volts DC)

A Power Supply with a weak voltage power rail, may have enough power to light LED lights, and spin fans, (or spin a few times, ans stop), but won't have enough power to turn the Processor on.

1) ALL the LED lights combined use less than 1 Watt of power

2) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts

3) A typical Processor can use 51 to 125 Watts.
Depends on what Processor it is.

eMachines T6420?
Uses an AMD Athlon 64 3400+, processor.
(Socket 939)

[The motherboard used is an MSI ms-7207
Also known as K8NGM2-L ]

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T6420

This Processor can use Up To 89 Watts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_amd_athlon_64_processors#.22Newcastle.22_.28CG.2C_130_nm.29

No Processor running, No computer.
No computer = No Video Signal

Suggest using a KNOWN to be Good, Compatible power supply, for a test unit, if available.

Should be the ATX form factor.

Approximately 6 inches Long, (15.24cm), 6 inches Wide, (15.24cm), and 3-1/2 inches Tall. (8.89cm)

250 Watts.
Correct amount of power cables, and the correct type.
