You may want to print this out because it is long.
Adding codes
Adding codes is really pretty simple.
First Add a System Manager code:

  • Press the 'additional functions' button to the right of the touch screen.
  • Press the 'system settings' button ON the touch screen.
  • Press the 'system manager settings' button on the touch screen.
  • Press the 'system manager' button on the touch screen and then use the touch screen to enter the system manager's name. Press 'done' when you have finished.
  • Press the 'system manager id' button on the touch screen and use the numeric keypad located to the right of the touch screen to create the id.
  • Press the 'system password' button on the touch screen and enter a numeric password for the system manager. YOU SHOULD MAKE A NOTE OF THE SYSTEM MANAGER ID AND PASSWORD, AS THIS WILL BE NEEDED TO CHANGE SETTINGSLATER.
  • Press 'next' on the touch screen.
  • Press 'email address' to add an email address for the system manager.
  • Press 'contact information' to add an extension to reach the system manager at.
  • Press 'ok' to complete the process.
  • Press 'done'.
Next add user codes:
  • Press the 'additional functions' button
  • Press 'system settings' button on the touch screen.
  • Press 'department id management' on the touch screen.
  • Press the 'on button' on the touch screen.
  • Press the 'store dept. id / password' button on the touch screen.
  • Press 'store' on the touch screen.
  • Press 'department id' on the touch screen and then enter a numeric code using the keypad.
  • If you want additional security you can also set up a password by pressing 'password' on the touch screen and, using the numeric keypad again, enter the password. The password can be left blank if desired.
  • Additionally you can set an impression limit for that user by pressing 'impression limit' on the touch screen.
  • Press 'ok' on the touch screen to add the user.
  • If you wish to limit impressions then you must press the 'limit impress.' Button on the touch screen.
  • If you want to add more users at this time go back to step 6.
  • Press the 'done' button.
  • Press the 'off' button at the bottom of the touch screen next to 'accept jobs with unknown id.
  • Click 'ok' to complete the process and start using the copier or go back to step 5 to add more users.
After this process users will have to enter a user id to use the machine. At the end of the copying process users should press the 'id' key located at the bottom right of the keypad to logout. The machine will automatically log users out if there has been no activity for a few minutes and this can be changed by pressing 'timer settings' in the additional functions.
While this seems like a lot it actually doesn't take very long to do. There is a far more elegant set of instructions in the 'reference guide' that came with the machine, which includes pictures, and starts on page 4-2.

I need to reset my combination to my mesa safe

This safe was shipped with a factory Master Code of 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8.

If you changed the Master Code you will need to use the code you changed it to.

Deleting your current User Codes:
Input * - * lock will beep twice
input 6-6-6-# lock will beep twice
Input current Master Code - # lock will beep twice
Input user number - # lock will beep twice (not user code, user number is which user number you want to delete 1,2,3,4 or 5)
Re-input user number - # light stays green for 3 seconds

Example: * - * - 6 - 6 - 6 - # Master Code - # - 5 - # - 5 #
This will delete user 5
Unsuccessful code change: five beeps, repeat the steps.

Changing User Codes: Code length can be 3 to 8 digits long
Input * - * lock will beep twice
Input 4 - 4 - 4 - # lock will beep twice
Input Current User Code - # lock will beep twice
Input User Number - #
Input New User Code - # lock will beep twice
Re-input New User Code - # light stays green for 3 seconds

Example: * - * - 3 - 3 - 3 -# - User Code 2 - # - 2 - # -New User Code - # - New User Code - #

That example will change user code 2.
Unsuccessful Code Change: five beeps, repeat the steps.

There are other things you can do with the MSL-500 lock that comes on the MFL-2014E. You can change the master code, activate user codes, change user codes, delete user codes, set single user or dual user modes (dual user modes requires two user codes to be entered each time you want to open the safe, set the time delay.

The Mesa safe company has a website which does have the operating instructions for the MSL-500 electronic lock. A Google search of "Mesa MSL-500 Operating Instructions" would get you there quickly.

I bought this gestetner 3227 copier at a auction but it has user codes on it and I don't know how to get past them to use my copier, can you help?

Yes, you can delete the User codes.
But first see if you also have administrator code. You have to know that first and then you have clearance to change the User codes.
All these instructions are in the user manual. You can download for free on the website of RICOH. The equivalent of your machine is AFICIO 220.

Sharp 5316E how to enter code

Did you mean the account control code ( 3 digits code ) ? If you forget this code, either you disable the account control mode or change the old user accounts. Here's how :

1. Enter the USER MODE PROGRAM by pressing and holding the Light key indicator ( the white half circle ) at the bottom left of the machine.

2. After the all the lights at the panel goes off ( except the quantity copy display, it will show 3 lines ). press 10 with the 10 key and START, change the value from 1 to 0 and press START again to save the value. THIS IS DONE TO DISABLE THE ACCOUNT CONTROL MODE.

3. If you want to show the user account and cange it to a new account, repeat the above step but enter 12 instead of 10 and press START. It will shows you your current user accounts ( up to 20 accounts ). If you still want the old user account, remember that code and press the light exposure key 1 more time withou holding it.

4. If you want to change the old user accounts, after the machine shows you the user acccount press START and input the new 3 digits code and START again.

I have a AR-M237 small copier and I need to put in some new account codes and delete some old account codes. I have a manual but it doesn't seem to tell me how to accomplish this. Please help.

You need to have the ADMIN code to access, change, edit, delete or install new codes. Look in the Management setting under user tools. Look for user codes or key operator codes. Defualt ADMIN code is normally 000000 or 11111, that is if the ADMIN code was not changed.
