Scan slides on printer

Does it print from the computer ?
If so I would think it does not need a driver.
Connect the cable from printer to computer.
Go to view devices and select.
Your 4500 should show up.
Click on 4500 and it should show 'start scan' in the bar at the top of the page.
Click 'start scan.' Move the image to the desktop, name it and send it.
At least that's the way my 4500 works.
(this is from memory, so it might not be 100%)

Try this: how do you scan pictures on the hp officejet 4500

I'm guessing that you are using the ADF(automatic document feeder).
Lift the scanner assembly up. Look for the narrow glass strip. Look at it closely. Look for dirt, dust, dead insect whatever. Get a lint free cloth and try a little glass cleaner. Rub it clean.

This will download the full Software and driver package for your printer/scanner. Once installed, you must use the HP software to scan wirelessly.

Yes, the printer can scan documents for emailing. You can use the Lexmark Imaging Studio to scan to email. Go to Start menu -> Programs -> Lexmark 3500-4500 Series -> Lexmark Imaging Studio -> E-mail. Select the Photo, Several Photos, or Document option. Click Start. Click Create E-mail to have your images attached to an e-mail message.

try some sewing macine oil on the slide bar also do a firmware up grade (download from hp site)

There is a patch that you can download and run to resolve this issue.
Step 1:
Download the following patch: http://swdownloads.lexmark.com/Patches/3500-4500/3500-4500.exe

1. To start the process, double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.


2. Reboot the PC.


3. Unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer.


4. Plug it back in after 30 seconds.


5. Try to scan again.
   If the problem still exists, follow Step 2 below.

Step 2:
Download the following patch: http://swdownloads.lexmark.com/Patches/3500-4500/3500-4500wifiethernetpatch.exe

1. Double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to continue.


2. Reboot the PC.


3. Unplug the power adapter from the back of the printer.


4. Plug it back in after 30 seconds.


5. Try to scan again.
   

If the problem is still the same

1.Get the printer ip address of the printer (ex: 192.168.1.10)
-press settings on the printer panel.. go to network setup.. View TCP / IP, open a browser (IE or mozilla) and type in the printer ip address
-you will see the printer page and then go to configuration.. choose scan to network host
-delete all the computer name listed

2. Go to start, all program.. choose Lexmark 3500-4500 series and choose Lexmark Solution Center
-go to Advanced, click on networking and then click on Change PC name or PIN
--rename the PC name and then click on Ok

3. Turn off the printer, unplug it for 10 secs

4. Try to scan, it should work

if it's still the same you need to uninstall the printer driver and download the updated driver in Lexmark.com

-reinstall it using the downloaded driver
