Someone pushed the self-cleaning but, the oven door will not lock close. The oven door will not completely close so therefore the oven won't work in bake or broil. The clear/off button has not worked in years. To turn my oven off I usually hit broil, bake, start and that turns the oven or broiler off but that will not work now being as it is in self-cleaning mode is set.

My Viking electric oven will not self clean, any suggestions.

Ensure the door is closed securely if the Viking oven will not enter the self-clean cycle. If the door is not closed completely, the door lock cannot engage to start the self-cleaning.

Scholtes FE46 and the door is locked. Also no clock/timer lights. Temp/function and oven work but is locked even though completely cold.

Here are a couple of things to try:
  1. Unplug the unit or shut off the circuit breaker for 5 minutes. Plug the unit back in or turn on the circuit breaker. Set the clock and gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.
  2. Set the self-clean cycle again and only allow it to work for 15 minutes. Cancel the self-clean cycle and allow the oven to cool. Gently try moving the door lock lever (is so equipped) or opening the door.

How do I lock door for self cleaning

Some ovens have a latch handle between the top of the door and the actual range top that you have to push sideways to lock. May also be a lock button you have to push in while moving the latch handle.
If you don't see the latch handle, The lock system may be the hidden type that should lock automatically when set to clean. Once the oven is set properly for clean, a motor will latch the door by itself. After the oven gets close to clean temperature, the latch gets locked out and the door will not open until the clean cycle is complete and oven cools down to normal room temperature again. This is a safety feature so you can't open the door while the oven is at clean temp (about 850 degrees). Hope this explains enough. If door never auto latches, could be a problem with the latch/lock system and motor.

Gas range oven door with not open

Your self cleaning cycle is running. When self cleaning is running the door is automatically locked and will not unlock until the self cleaning cycle completes or self cleaning is turned off. You should be able to just turn off the self cleaning cycle and the door will unlock. Do not try to pry open the oven door. You will just damage the door and/or the catch.

We have a kenmore model# 911.47692100, oven with a self-cleaning cycle that does not want to work. Following the instructions we push CLEAN, the 4 hour display comes on, we push START and the LOCK DOOR...

The oven self clean heats the oven in excess of 450 degrees. It will not begin until the door is properly closed and the slide lock goes completely home. This is to prevent anyone being able to get into the oven until after the cleaning cycle is done. When your "door lock" indicator blinks and beeps, try the door to see if it is really locked. If not, shut off the system and try to find out why it is not locking properly. If you find the reason and fix it, it will probably work properly.
