The frig temp seems to be fine. Fan on the compressor is running fine. Frig seems to be running most, if not all the time. Took out ice maker and back metal panel in the freezer. No frost on this panel. Fan in freezer running fine. Very small amount frost on top right section of coils. Thank you !

Volman, take a look in the freezer section and see if you have a heavy build-up of frost on the back panel. You want to take the evap cover off and see if the evaporator is frozen up. If so, your refer did not go into defrost and cannot move the air over to the refer side. If this is the case you will have to defrost that evaporator completely. On these Amanas the culprit is usually the bi-metal which sits on the evaporator. Look at it and see if it's buldged. The part number for the bi-metal is ro131661. If you defrost the evap your refer will start cooling again normally until it freezes over again. This will give you time to replace the bimetal....Catriver...post back.

Is your fan blowing in the freezer? Frost on the back wall of the freezer usually indicates a defrost problem... defrost themostate, heaters, take back panel off and check evap for frost build up and if your fan in working.

Check the damper in the top back of the fresh food section. make sure that it is open and air is coming through it.
SOURCE: Amana refrigerator only not working
Have same problem with my basic whirlpool refridgerator 2 months old. Warranty guy came out. He said the vents between the freezer/fridge air are clogged with ice. this happens if the door is left open for awhile which allows water to condensate, then closed, water freezes.
Said to left fridge defrost completely for 24 hours to let ice melt thn plug back in. I'll update if this does not work.

In answer to everyone's questions....
There was just a SMALL amount of frost on the top left section where the freon inlet (or outlet) tube is....including that tube was frosted over.
I put a small heater in the freezer for a couple minutes and that frost was gone. After I plugged the freezer back in the temp still only got down to 31 overnight in the freezer with it turned up to maximum.
I will have to check into what the bi-metal is.
Yes the fan is blowing up in to the refrigerator section and it is getting into the refrigerator.
Thanks for your suggestions.....Gary
I replaced the bi-metal and the freezer section is still not cooling and there is no frost build-up on the evaporator. With the freezer set on max the freezer is 26 degrees and the frig is 36 degrees. Is there any other ideas ? It seems the refrigerator runs most if not all the time. I did cycle the defrost timer and it seems to be working. My next step may be taking that off and actually testing it at the contacts I suppose. What do you think ?
