What heating elements are in richmond model 8v40-2

The most common heating elements in an electric wtr htr are 120v 4500 watt elements. There are usually two of them. The bottom element heats about 80% of the water, and the top one heats the remaining 20% after the bottom stat is satisfied. The info you are looking for is on the rating plate of the heater. Good luck!

Heat pump i dont know the model

The "R" terminal on the back of the stat should be 24 volt supply to the stat. For a heat pump, when the stat calls for heat, the "W" terminal goes hot (24 V) and should actuate the reversing valve and start the outside unit for heat. when the stat calls for cooling, The "Y" terminal goes hot and starts the outside unit without the reversing valve. The heat strip is used to temper the air while the outside coil is defrosting when in heating. You need an OHM meter to test for a short in the heat strip. A lot of installers are wiring it to heat all the time when in the heating mode if the heat output is too low on really cold days. Try jumping "R" to "Y" and the outside unit should start. Disconnect the heat strip from power while testing. This is really brief, its a big subject. Good luck.

Have a reliance electric water heater model 606; have no hot water. I am having a problem finding the reset switch.

If it was working and recently stopped working, the heating element that heats the water probably went bad, no longer functioning. Check to make sure that there is or is not a reset button, and if there is, press and reset the heater. It's not difficult to remove the old heater element and replace it, but make sure the circuit breaker power to the water heater is off when you remove it. Take it to a water heating supply store, or large hardware store with the Brand and model number of your water heater (Reliance RELIANCE ELECTRIC WATER HEATER,model 606 ) to buy another one.

Cannot find pilot light on my bosch GWH635ESL, help!

Call Bosch
Gas Products Technical Support: 800-642-3111

That model number is only shown at one website, and that model number is not shown at Bosch.
Open following link for Bosch:
http://www.boschwaterheater.com/BoschHotWatercomHome/GasProducts/tabid/331/Default.aspx
Search of Bosch for that model number shows no result.

Some water heaters do not have a pilot light. Instead they use hot surface igniter rod that glows red hot
The igniter rod ignites the gas after solenoid valve opens and gas flows to combustion chamber.
The igniter rod and heat sensor have to be operational, and have to be positioned correctly for ignition to take place.
If igniter rod is not working, or if heat sensor does not detect flame, then gas solenoid valve shuts down and water heater does not heat water.

Ariston Micro genus 11 Only getting hot water no central heating

Check the heat exchanger. Often they and gummed up.& you will have to try & flush it out or replace. If this model has the cylindrical type, they are pigs to do.
If this machine is 10 yrs old or more, you might find it better in the long run to have a new boiler
Just a thought, but I assume that the valves on the 3/4 " central heating pipes are turned on
Parts to look forward to later - fan £80 - pump £65 - heat exchanger £110 - diverter valve £65 - pressure relief valve £45
