Sir try to check the video setting of your unit if PAL or NTSC. Good day and best regards.

Time to buy a new DVD player. Try using Sony or Samsung dvd player.

This could be that you are using NTSC or american region DVDs or the connections that you are using if you use a SCART to composite video incorrectly then you will get a B&W signal into your TV

Initially, pls check if your portable DVD has an NTSC/PAL selector switch, option or feature. If yes, try selecting the other. Should this not be corrective, pls post the exact brand, model and your general location/region.

the problem sounds like its with the s video connection, try using the composite video input

All These units need servicing, They all are having problems with the video output circuit. It could be a coupling capacitor or the video chip itself heating up and distorting the output after short playing periods.This may be a simple fix of changing the output coupling capacitors. But it also may be some internal distortion in the chip. These unit need to be tested on a oscilloscope and check out in the video out input section to look for possible component failures.You should contact a service center that will test your unit and give you an evaluation of the cost effectiveness of a repair.
