SOURCE: Scanner isn't scanning all the time

It doesn't sound like a power issue. Most likely it either needs cleaned, or it needs the laser recalibrated or replaced. Try cleaning the glass for starters, and then hold the scanner about two inches from a white piece of paper. You should get a solid, bright red line. If the line is distorted you need to recalibrate the laser. If it's dim, the laser unit is going out. The laser can be replaced, but I don't know if it's one of those things where the part plus labor costs more than replacing the scanner.

SOURCE: NOT SCANNING CORRECTLY

I'm guessing you are using the USB version and the power that comes from the comuter via the USB cable.

It is quite likely that the problem you are having is due to power sag. .500ma is the limit from P.C. s

Do you have a 15 foot cord on there? If so try a 6 foot cord. Sagging still occurs with a 6 foot cable ...but only half as much. If the problem goes away you are on the right track.

I have a cable (I should say Motorola has a cable) with a separate power supply that should fix the problem.

SOURCE: MC 9060 not retaining programming

We have the same problem, and according to our supplier we had to use the Regsave for saving the settings, due to internal proceudres, we haven't use the devices for a year, but now we have to use them again....
We have found this solution in the net, perhaps will help you...., now we are trying to find out the RegSave utility, if you find it, PLEASE e-mail me at [email protected] THKS

Some brief notes about the use of RegSave on Symbol 90X0 terminals, specifically the 9060 with the 802.11b RF option.

You will need RegSave_2_53_04.zip

Unzip this and locate the file RegSaveCED.exe in the 9050 folder.

Connect your terminal as a guest in ActiveSync and explore it using Win Explorer. Locate the c:\applications folder and copy the RegSaveCED.exe file to this folder on the HHT.

Now you can uncouple the HHT and click start menu and Windows Explorer to look at HHT's local files. locate applications folder and locate the RegSaveCED.exe file... double tap

Now screen RegSave EMEA TS appears.

In Registry section press "Create Template File"
Accept \Application\RegSave.tpl option offered
Click Create template and wait forever !

............. time passes ..................

The app rattles through all the registry entries and builds a file with them all in. Just when you assume it'll last forever it stops...

Now back to the main screen ...

Click OK (top right) to exit the app

--- oOo ---

Now set your IP parameters and RF bits... in fact anything you need.

........... time passes ...........

--- oOo ---

Now re-load the RegSave app.

Press the button in the Registry section entitled "Save Current Configuration"

I got some missing file error here which I rode over roughshod... basically it's looking for a registry exception file. You can create this but and it can be a list of ignored keys but for our purposes it doesn't matter so I just said "Yes"

It'll do some stuff regarding comparing and checking for differences, then it saves the changed bits.

Now you can exit RegSave and try rebooting... it should have saved the changes to the Registry and everything should be the same as before

SOURCE: The battery seems to not be charging, it only

Check the battery leads to see if one of them was severed somehow. If the leads look good. If the leads look good replace the battery.

Honeywell 2020-5 suddenly stopped scanning. The lights are on the charger base, but the scanner seems dead.

I guess there is a problem with the base station. Let me tell my story:
I got a 4820 scanner with 2020 base. All worked fine till I experimented with scanning images. After a few images (which I cannot retrieve/receive properly due to lack of software) the scanner seems dead. From time to time a short buzz sounds when triggered, but no light or else.
So I bought another 4820, a slightly different model. Seems to work fine but has to be paired with the base to get the data. Now after pairing this scanner shows the same issues as my first and refuses to scan.
I installed QiuckView and HSM-USB-Serial-Driver on a virtual machine at my MAC to flash firmware to base and scanners. But the base device does not show up in the program (althought it is shown in the USB device table). Maybe I can try on a native WindowsPC ...

Philips SE 455 twin set cordless: The charge lasts less than an hour when using speaker phone, so I am looking for replacement batteries. Phones only 2-3 years old and absolutely fine in all other...

A higher capacity battery should work even better because a fully charged 900 mAh battery allows the phone to operate 50% longer than a 600 mAh battery between charges. I have had good results with Rayovac Recharge Plus 900 mAh in my Philips SE450. This phone will latch and not operate upon ringing if it doesn't like its batteries (probably high internal resistance), even though the batteries test good on a battery tester.

My scanner was worling fine. I scanned a doc then printed it. Went to can another then nothing. I got an error message saying that the pc could not find the scanner. I noticed that there is not elec...

On my scanner the pc data cable seems to come loose which makes for intermittent disconnects just like you had. It also does a thing where if you don't use it for even a short period it goes into whats best described as a sleep mode. This almost always requires it be unplugged and plugged back in before it is recognised again. I have a feeling from your description that what you are seeing could be a variation of one of these. The scanner works just fine but it does these annoying things.

As its a scanner there isn't much (almost nothing) we can check or adjust. You can check the data and power cables. Gently give them a wiggle and see if you can get the scanner to nod off again. Usually the problem will be the computer end of the data cable or the scanner power plug or jack. These may be loose or worn and making intermittent contact if moved bumped or vibrated. If you experience more power outages than it seeming to be asleep then the power jack could be loose or the wire inside the power cable may have been damaged. If the wire is damaged you may be able to find where by wiggling the wire. Sometimes you will see a bend where it should be straight. If you don't the problem is usually by the plug end. If you can confirm the problem is the power wire then you can just replace it.

As far as bulb replacement, there shouldn't be any user serviceable parts. The light source inside is a series of leds on the scan bar. These create that light greenish light (most models) as it scans. It should show an error if there is a light problem. You can check by watching the light leakage as it scans. If there is light you are ok, reduced light should just mean darker scan images.

It is possible you have a drive motor issue that is causing excess power use and overheating. If you have used it a lot the guide tracks will wear or get dirty and cause extra friction and the little motor has to work harder and harder until it fails. You could possibly (really doesn't sound like it though) be seeing the early failure of the motor. Unfortunately if there is a serious hardware problem it is almost never worth fixing a scanner. It is much cheaper to replace it. My bet is you are seeing a cable issue.

My scanner/faxer won't scan for my mfc-490cw brother product. I always have to reset it and push 20 buttons so I don't remember how to do it. Can you help?

I have the same problem. It was working fine, then after not using it for a few weeks, all the sudden I couldn't scan. I'm hooked up wirelessly through my router. I can initiate a scan both from my PC and from the scanner itself, when initated from the scanner my PC responds and shows the progress bar, and the scanner actually scans. However for some reason no data is being sent back to the PC. And after a few minutes I get an error message saying that communication was lost (or something like that) error TW007. Yesterday I called into brother support and was on the phone for an hour and a half. they walked me through verifying connectivity, uninstalling and reinstalling the software and drivers, but to no avail. In the end we made no progress. I can print without a problem, and fax and photocopy. But for some reason it seems that the scanner is not transmitting the information back to the computer, even through the connection was established and the computer is waiting for the data.

The scanner only scan one side fully

If the bottom is vertically split, then there could be some problem in the hardware (bottom scanning module) Check for loose contacts. If it is cut horizontally, it must be definitely loose contat problem.

Camera won't turn on.

Make sure the battery contacts are clean. The rechargable batteries looses their charge even when they are not in use. It is important to fully charge the first time the rechargable batteries.

Scanner

Try scanning from the Kodak AiO Home Center software. If that fails, you should get better feedback. Unfortunately, I have run into this when my ink is low. While it should not matter, is does. Check to see if you need to replace a cartridge.
Good Luck.
