It sounds as though it could be any of three problems. Firstly, it could be a faulty screen - in which case it's a lost cause since replacement screens can cost more than new TVs. It could be your main (video) board which you could replace if you can find a matching one on eBay. Finally it could be your T-con board, which again can be replaced by finding the same part number on eBay. A plaid screen is not a problem I am familiar with per se, but those are the three reasons why one might have a faulty display. Hope that helps.

you're LCD panel is gone. To replace it...$1500-$2K. But there is a silver lining to this dark cloud. No pun intended. It claims its the 46" but it appears to be a 40-52" problem. If you have an extended warranty it will pay for it.
