Simply go to your regional website and download the driver then double click to install (usually in Downloads).

Try to clean around the edges of the trackpad with a can of compressed air, as sometimes gunk will form on the outside areas and will cause your trackpad to not work.

Touch pad is not responding

depending on the model. right aboce it there could be a little button that looks like the toch bad with a line through it. press that and try again.

on another model there was a touch pad icon in the system tray. click that to disable the touchpad. might need an external mouse to do it.

you may need to reinstall the drivers for keyboard and touch pad, if you still have the drivers cd on hand look for these two important drivers, since you have the new xp installed all drivers have been erased.

My touchpad mouse won't work. it does not respond

If you are using XP, check your mouse settings under Control Panel. Make sure that your Touch Pad is enabled. If it is but it still won't work, have a mouse plugged into a USB port that will work correctly. Then download the latest driver from the Acer site for your touchpad. Uninstall the driver that is currently being used by your system. Then install the updated driver that you downloaded. This should allow you to use your Touch Pad. If not, you may have to take your laptop in for servicing.

Touch pad stopped working

I recommend you to uninstall and reinstall touchpad drivers to isolate the issue.
Press Windows key and R. Type devmgmt.msc in Run window and click on OK. Click on "+" sign beside Mice and other pointing devices in Device Manager.
Right click on Touchpad and select Uninstall.
You will be prompted to restart the computer.
Windows detects touchpad and the touchpad drivers will be reinstalled automatically.
You can also install touchpad drivers from your notebook support website.
You can reinstall the drivers from the below links:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5920.html
http://www.laptops-drivers.com/acer-notebooks/download-drivers-acer-aspire-5920-notebooks.html
However I suggest you to install the drivers by visiting the acer support website.
Also perform windows update.
