Any power supply that has the output you indicated will do the trick provided it fits into the allotted space.

Could be the battery is faulty and imposing such a load on the charger it is overheating, though it could be the charger itself or indeed both items.

If you have a friend with a similar laptop you could try using your charger on a different computer to test it or try a known good charger on your computer.
If you can't access alternative components for testing purposes it would probably be best to entrust the testing to a skilled person.

Assuming this AC laptop charger functioned correctly at one time. Several Possibilities: (1) laptop charger has failed ... connect another compatible charger to your computer to test for this; (2) or the battery has failed ... remove battery and test if the charger plugged in directly powers the laptop.

Dead battery. Test battery, try another cord/charger to verify.

1. remove main battery and test with just ac charger.
2. test ac charger with multimeter or test notebook with good charger.
3. remove any memory, then test each stick once at a time in each slot.
4. if only 1 stick, get and test with a known good stick, in each slot.
5. plug into external monitor and then power on to test if its a screen issue.
6. clear bios - usually by removing main AND BIOS battery, wait 5 mins.
7. remove all hardware - hdd, odd, wlan, modem, etc and test.
8. remove mainboard, reseat cpu, benchtest
9. test power is getting past DC port - ie, DC port is not broken...

if fails on bench after clearing bios, reseating cpu, with different sticks of memory tested in each slot, with a known good AC charger, and dc port is undamaged, the board is faulty.

Hi, to identify charger. You will need to test another charger on the cell phone and test that same charger on another phone to confirm if the charger is working.

Also after testing for the charger and and if the charger works, that means the charging port of the phone where the charger is been inserted is damaged.

It will need to be fixed.contact you local repair person for help.

Sometimes, the power supply to the charger might be too high or too low hereby resulting in damaging the charger. I will advice you test the charger on another phone before you conclude that the charger is bad. Once You have confirmed that. The only solution is to replace the charger. Once you have confirmed that the problem the problem is from the charger. Then You test the battery and the phone to know where the problem is from.

To test the battery,

1. Power off the phone,
2. Remove the battery,
3. Insert it in another phone,
4. Try to charge it with another charger,

If it charges, then it means the battery is working, but if it does not, then it means the battery is bad and need to be replaced.

Further test the phone,

1. Insert a well tested battery into the phone,
   
2. Plug a well tested charger into the phone to see if it will charge,

If it does not charge, then it means the connection port is bad and if it does charge, then it means the problem is not from the phone.

Before the end of the of the tests, You will have detected the problem and the solution to any of it is to replace it.

make and model would help, general help do you have voltage tester? if so look at charger and find voltage output, test contacts and if lower than listed charger has gone bad, also clean all contacts with pencil eraser to make sure they are clean on battery and gun, if charger is good and contacts clean either battery is bad test in another device or test voltage, if battery good the drill is bad
