Hi,
I got the chat , but some how it got disconnected.
But i would like to help you in this aspect.
HDMI stands for High Definition Multimedia Interface, and supports transmission of both audio and video in high fidelity.
First make sure these things,
Both your computer and your TV will need to support HDMI interface.
It's quite a recent thing in PC graphics cards, so you may have to
resort to S-Video, DVI or VGA for the video, plus a 3.5mm stereo cable (or the optical TOSLINK equivalent) for the sound.
Let know your comments and i will follow up with the suggestions.
Thanx for using fixya,
Good luck.

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.
To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup
If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.
Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

First off a little tip that manufacturers don't tell you is that you HAVE to TURN OFF the POWER to ANY UNITS that you are Connecting to via HDMI!!!!!!! If not you can short out the Inputs!!!!!!!! HDMI is usually Automatic, But sometimes you need to go into the Menus on all Devices to the HDMI section and write down their settings and compare them. Any definition that you are not sure of check the Manual or Google it! Match all the Settings (there won't be Much!) Hopefully the Inputs were not Damaged it only takes one time to short it out and then the Repairman makes a few bucks! Good Luck!

there is a possibility that there might have been a power surge sent over hdmi into the hdmi board on the tv. if on your model the hdmi board is seperate from the sine board then youll have a cheap replacement if not its gonna cost you roughly 300-400 is my guess.
call your repair guy
